A bone shaker, but great fun and great wildlife

The little train took about 1 hour from le crotoy around the bay to st Valery ser Somme, which is a very nice place and well worth a good look around the old town. the train stops... read more

Would love to have done this trip the train looked great and the wheelchair would have got on the train but no ramp or possibility of using our own ramp. Very disappointed

A cute little steam train journey through the country side which was very reasonably priced. It took us from St Valery to Le Crotoy which was a very nice place to visit. Lovely restaurants and views as well as a good market. You are also able to take your bikes on board if you fancy a ride around Crotoy. A... More

Wonderful trip. A real bone shaker of a ride but well worth it for the views and camaraderie of the passengers. Le Crotoy was fabulous if when you get off the train you head towards the port not the beach ( we did the latter first and it was a long, uninspiring walk).Lots of restaurants, walks and places to picnic... This is a small steam train that goes around the bay from St Valery to Crotoy, and is an absolute delight. I went from one side to the other, looking out of the windows at whatever we were passing, having the greatest time ever. I tell you what, if this does not make you feel like a child again then... Old steam train runs during high season but diesel at other times. Carriages are from 1920s or a bit later. Travels from Le Crotoy to Saint Valery taking about an hour each way ..about €11 return for adults, wagon for bicycles. Nice slow trip around the marshes, lagoons and streams with a chance to see extensive bird life (in August... More

To catch the steam train at St Valery you need the diesel from Cayeaux. So far so good. The diesel made the connection to the steam train at St Valery. However, on return the train from Le Crotoy to St Valery was half an hour late. It didn't stop at St Valery Town but went though to the port. I... More

The little train took about 1 hour from le crotoy around the bay to st Valery ser Somme, which is a very nice place and well worth a good look around the old town. the train stops right alongside the river on the quay side, you can then stroll into the town and wonder round or do like we did... One of the most boring afternoon ever. Not much to see, slow, no toilet or drinks in the train. I considered jumping out...

Leisurely trip. My advice would be to plan your day carefully so you are not rushed at the other end. Train goes to quaint beach destination. Very uncomfortable seats - trip takes an hour each way.
