A quick stop to explore and rejuvenate! I walked the entire grounds and it's quit fascinating. I finished with a real mud bath and a sulphur bath and felt totally refreshed. Make sure to bring older bathing suit since I am still trying to get some mud out of mine : ). The day I went was quit warm (28˚C!),... More

The tour of the geothermal area was informative and worth the time. Highly recommend this. The bathroom accommodations for changing for the mud bath and spa experience are not private unless you lock the door and keep everyone else out until you are changed. Do not consider this a luxury spa but is as close to an authentic experience as... More

The thermal eruptions and mud are very cool, but be warned that the sulfer emissions are quite strong. One asthmatic in our group irritated his lungs here, which led to a nasty bout of respiratory issues. I'd avoid this spot if you have respiratory problems.

Such a cool experience! You can change and dress down to your comfort level and once you are ready, they bring you over to the mud bath. It was such an odd, yet warm, feeling to walk into the pool of grey mud! Only thing is that the mud washed right off if you put it on your shoulders or... More

This is one of the best moments of my two weeks in New Zealand! We were here during winter so it was very cold (and we were very underdressed). This was the best choise we made. It was amazing to get a long warm bath. And your skin feels so much better after this! A must if you go to... More

The mud pools were cool and the sulfur spas were good but I thought there would be more spas and areas. Courtesy bus was a plus though. But thought it was a bit expensive for what it was.

What a fun time we had here. There was confusion around our booking at the beginning re the massage part. We arrived a little late so the mud spa that we should have been able to go straight into wasn't free yet, so they popped us into the spa first then into the mud spa then the spa again -... More

Bought the 20min mud spa and thermal pool combo. Thought $70 was a bit steep for only 20min in the mud spa which was definitely the highlight. Got to use the thermal pool afterwards but there was only the one pool which got a little mundane after about 20-30 mins. It was s nice experience overall

After visiting Rotorua frequently this was the first time we went to Hell's Gate. We opted for the private mud pools and spa with the thermal walk combo. The spa was fun for just two, the public pools would be great for a family or restricted budget. The mud pools were the best I have seen in 60+ years of... More
