Yoloshi is a village at the foot of sacred Mount Minyak Gangkar (7556 meters/24,790 feet). Guests can stay with a local host and spend a day trekking on the mountain and in the Color Lake Nature Reserve. Conscous Journeys have trained some local hosts and work with them and they are really good now.

This is a National park, extensively advertized and full of Chinese tourists, horribly full during holidays. You have to pay an entrance fee (half price if at least 60 years old) and a fee to use the bus. Everything is well marked and made easy to go. The bus brings you to 3100m altitude. You mmay then walk 30 minuts... More

Really luck to be there on sunny day and the view was fantastic and very clean fresh air during the climb.

Upon arrival at the airport in Kang Ding we were greeted by the majestic Gongga Mountain range. Just what I had always pictured the Himalayan mountains to look like.

It is not the highest mountain in the world, but definitely one of the most majestic! It's such a petty that I can not see it closely and clearly due to the heavy rain! Hopefully I have better luck next time!

You take a tour bus from Moxi town up to the cable car. At the top of the cable car you have impressive views of the Mt. Gongga (7556m) and 5 other peaks above 6500m if the weather permits.

Gongga Mountain, Minyak Gongkar/Gangkar. There are several names to describe this holy Tibetan mountain (7556 m), long thought to be the highest in the world. Gongga mountain is a little shy - often covered in clouds and rarely shows her face. But when she does, she is a beautiful sight to behold. There is a pilgrimage trek around this mountain,... More

I traveled with a Deutsch expedition team to Melcyr Schan, a peak about 20000 feet high they summited. Journey starts in Chengdu. It is a day on vehicle when we arrive in Laoyulin after 10 hours' riding. It was during the National Day holiday at the beginning of Oct and we saw traffic jam all the way as well as... More

the Gonga Shan trek is a nice little trek. Nothing too fancy about it, but still a pleasant one. Different options given the time you have. The nomads camping in this area are very nice people. The only thing here is the weather. Seing the top of the mountain is difficult. So many clouds ...
