Good presentation of the Japanese story in Kaslo. Liked the casual display of photos, interpretation and artefacts on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the nicely-restored Langham Centre.

Kaslo was one of the places that Japanese-Canadians were interned during World War II. This small museum has excellent photos and displays showing this sad history, and reminding us of how easy it is to slip into racism and xenophobia.

Kaslo is a nice smaller town with art shops, bakeries and great cafes. The restored Kaso Hotel looks like the place to stay (although we were a bit south, at Ainsworth). The museum is houses in an old building that struggles to survive, the museum...More

There is amazing pictures, so much history to be read. The building was all renovated you could just feel the people there as you walked around and read about them.

Well worth a visit... It gives you an understanding of what happened to Japanese people being relocated to the West Kootenays during WW2

Amazing collection of photographs and captions about the internment of Japanese Canadians during WWII. This internment was in a hotel in Kaslo and was mainly for women, children and old people. It is very welcome.

The museum clearly communicates how appalling was Canada's treatment of Japanese Canadians in the second world. I don't know how anyone could fail to be moved by the photos and the stories. A bigger budget for the museum would help, but it's a great job...More

Was very surprised about the Japanese-Canadian history, I guess as an American I thought we were the only country that treated the Japanese people like we did during WWII . Was eye opening to see history.
