Gullfoss is both impressively terrifying and beautiful at the same time. They are incredibly loud and really bring home the power of the waterfall. There is a decent sized car park but busy even in January with lots of coaches and tours. We drove there...More

The full force of Gullfoss, and the strong sounds it made as water crashed on rock was incredible. Definitely worth the day trip to visit, along with other things along the way.

I was in Iceland 4 years ago, July 2013, when I took the Golden Circle tour. The most amazing stop we made was at Gullfoss Falls. What an amazing site to behold! The walkway leads to the top of the falls and it is just...More

Apparently the Iceladnic government wanted to turn this into a hydroelectric site. Lucklily they didnt succeed and it stands today as one of the Golden Circle sights, a multiple waterfall in a superb setting. Very spectacular. Niagara it isnt but even so well worth going...More

This is hands-down the most spectacular waterfall in Iceland. On a sunny day, there are rainbows everywhere. It's more spectacular than Niagara. And it's fairly accessible, which is more than one can say about most falls in Iceland (or other attractions, for that matter). Go...More

Brace yourself as you could easily fall off...or so it feels. Bring rain gear, as the mist is serious. There are a ton of rocks up near the top for good photo ops, but note that the walking/rocks require solid hiking boots.

Viewed this waterfall as part our Golden Circle day trip - would rate it as one of our favorites in Iceland along with Godafoss and Detifoss. It is a short and relatively steep hike down to the top of the falls. Expect slight spray (guess...More

We have seen a lot of falls so far in ICeland, but this is our favorite so far. It is a must see while you are here! Unfortunately, there are lots of people here. Be sure to walk up the path to the top of...More

Words can barely describe how beautiful this falls is. It's huge. Not Niagara huge, but you could measure them on the same scale. It's big. There are a lot of people, but no development to speak of. Just natural beauty. Wonderful place. Bring good rain...More

This was for me the highlight of the Golden Circle tour, even better than Geysir. The walk down to the edge of the waterfall was fantastic even if you do get a bit wet - just see the rainbow! And walking over the top route...More

How far are the is gulfoss from the reykjavik airport? We arrive at 2pm and then are staying north west but wondering if it is worth driving to see the falls and have a cup of lamb stew and then driving up? What time does it close in mid July? Thanks!

Where are you staying? In which town? The Golden Circle is a must-see and it certainly is worth a detour.

We were on the Golden Circle EXPRESS tour which gave us 45 minutes there in very extreme weather. If the weather had been clear, we'd have wanted longer (not least to walk down the route that was closed on the day we were... More
