The Finnish Glass Museum has operated since 1981 in a former glassworks building converted into a museum designed By Tapio Wirkkala, academic and world-famous Finnish designer. The former glassblowing facility and the third floor of the museum are reserved for temporary Finnish and international exhibitions of the history and present state of glass and design.

They had all the important pieces of Finnish designr glass. Nice collection. I would visit again the Gift shop. The location is a bit far without a car but managable. There is other glass work shops close by aswell. (And the hunting museum next door).

The exhibition is quite good with options from ancient history to coming of art into Finland. There is always a contemporary section with local and national artist. The museum offers on the spot hands-on in collaboration with nearby glass art workshops.
