The objects are mostly collected from the Bastar District of Chhattisgarh, Koraput District of Orissa, and Khammam of Andhra Pradesh. Museum having outstanding display on life and culture, collection of arts and crafts of the tribes of India.Best place for advance study/ training and research for students in ethnology, linguistics, archaeology, and physical anthropology.

Knowledgeable staff, mostly research anthropologists, along with the fascinating collection of tribal artefacts make this a very worthwhile place to visit. The recently built Gond Gothul hut models are a worthy addition. The museum is located on the road to Chitrakot Falls on the right as you are leaving Jagdalpur.

The museum is located on your right while going to chitrakoot falls from Jagdalpur. It is open from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm five days a week. The museum is neatly maintained. Very few people visit the place, though. Going through the same in detail tells us a lot about the anthropology of the region.

This museum gives us a glimpse of the tribal lifestyle. Even has a collection of the tools they use for hunting. Very well maintained and a must visit. This museum is on-the-way from Jagdalpur to chitrakut falls, so > no major detour required to visit this place.

Many a times the tourists forget/ignore to visit this museum located right in the city due to buzy schedule of visiting the nearby attractions of Jagdalpur. We made a point to compulsarily visit this place while touring Bastar in November 2012. We were... More
