5 shape fort in the Ternate, with beautiful landscape. the front side is tidore strait and the back side is Gamalama mountain. i enjoy the view and has a good spot for photos. i think the best time to visit is early morning around 7-8 am or afternoon around 5 pm. you will get clear blue sky.

Was built by Portuguese then conquered by Dutch colonial, now within the government hand, still has no significant attraction.

Not very interesting site really, it's quite small, nothing overly special about it. It does have a nice view of some of the neighboring islands but that's about it. If you are doing a day tour of ternate I would probably skip it as there are numerous other forts in town that are a bit more picturesque.

Easily accessible, well preserved and surprisingly small. Famously shaped like a turtle. Makes you reflect on the old struggles for monopoly of the spice trade in this area. Was this fort really thought to be big enough?

Another nice places to visit during in the island, sadly that the beach was very bad and dirty. Need to look after so well with the waste.

How much is original? Its hard to say. Of you want to see a fort go ahead but its neither a ruin or an effective reconstruction of what the fort would of been like when it was constructed.

Located right on the water and facing Tidore, this historical fort holds an important part in the history of the spice trade. Besides the signage at the front giving a basic overview of the site, there are no placards explaining the fort or its history. Read ahead and you'll have a great appreciation for the site. If the weather cooperates,... More

A unique design fort that looks like a sea turtle, the fort is facing Tidore, whereas during that time Kingdom of Ternate and Kingdom of Tidore have been in rivalry A must see location...

Ternate has a lot of small fort, but Kalumata (the real spelling by local people) and Toluko is the best preserved one. Kalumata has a unique shape, a pentagonal, makes it really different compared to the other fort there. Moreover, the seascape view from there is not only fantastic, it is heavenly!
