If you like old style museum's and a personal guide then this very small place is a blast from the past. Interesting to hear about the pre-history of Laos.

Been there and discover that there are two other backpackers sitting outside. When the staff saw me, he went to open the back gate and inform the other two people that they could enter as well. He entered to open the lights and decorations first. I think that it is acceptable for me as it is not worth using the electricity for the whole day just for a few people. I looked that the signature book and saw that they only have some visitors per day. Nevertheless, the male staff and female staff are polite, always have a smile on their face. They could not speak english but it is quite common in Laos. No worries. It is a short walk but it is nice to see that the Laos people are proud of their dinosaur discovery as part of their local culture such that one of the roundabout decoration is about dinosaurs!!!

I like this place not because of its displaying items (dinosaur bones), but the old-man guide. He has lived at the museum for 17 years and will retire in 2014. He spent most of his time in maintaining and protecting the museum, which is his pride that is worth to spend his life for. He said if the government still want to keep the museum, he may have a chance to guide tourists and tell us about story of the museum and his own story.

10,000 kip/visitor, and not much things to see. You don't even understand as some of explications are in French, and unclear. The museum is not well-organised as well.

The old-man gave us some bones of dinosaur, which were pretty heavy. This was the first time we saw, heard and touched dinosaur bone, and that's it.

This little museum is worth a visit, if only to support it with the entrance fee. It's small and kind of run down but the interesting part, aside from the fossils, is its history. The digs were conducted by the French which means that you will find a lot of information in both French and English. Kind of quaint.

Possibly one of the worst ‘museums’ I have ever visited. Almost no content and the exhibit cases look like they have never been cleaned since dinosaurs roamed the earth. Some explanation in French, nothing in English. The only enthusiasm shown by the staff was to collect the entrance fee. Don’t waste your money or time.

We LOVED this museum! Yes, as others have said it is small, and it helps if you can speak French as a lot of the signs are in French, but we found it absolutely fascinating to see the local history on display here. The curator took us into the cleaning room and showed us how the bones are cleaned and preserved, how they make the copies of them and where they were sending copies off to (various museums in Thailand). And, best of all, everyone in our family has now handled REAL dinosaur bones...actually touched real bones. It was totally awesome.

I visited this place with a high expectation because I'm Vietnamese and of course never seen before. Collection of the fossils is extremely diverse. Current status now in the museum quite low-invested. But tour guide is great of his knowledge he shared to us.

Brought one of our travelers, 6 yr. old to show him dinosaur info. It could benefit from more children related display. However dinosaur discovery information and displays were informative for adults.

We were exploring the area and walking around and decided to check out the museum. It was quiet when we arrived, we were left to tour on our own (all signs in Laotian and French) until a friendly employee came out and showed us a few pieces not on display. It's not a big exhibit but still pretty cool to see what they have and learn about where it was all found.

This would be an impressive personal collection but a museum it does not make. The trip advisor system of stars is not really relevant as 5 stars in Laos is like negative 94 in New York. They have done the best with what they have and have preserved what they have found and it is documented in Laos and to some degree in French. Not expensive to visit and worth ten minutes.
