The best ski base in Kyrgystan!

The longest ski routes (4 km). The variety of slopes (freeride and backcountry). The mountains of Tien-Shan is very beautiful nature.

And it is the best ski resort in the Kyrgyzstan. 4 chairlifts, a lot of different groomed and offpiste lines. Snow conditions are not always good.

If anyone speaks to local people, it seems to be obvious, everyone is proud of their Ski Base. For skiers the most important is the snow. This winter was not so cold and there was not much snow. Artificial snow was also not available, Many skiers especially from Russia, have gone to Chembolak where snow in the Winter is guaranteed.

We met up with some friends that were experienced skiers, we are not not. The equipment hire is cheap and good quality by European standards around 1000 Som. A ski pass is about 900/1200 for half/full day. The shops can accommodate both experienced and novice skiers and snow boarders. There is a cafe that is OK, serving hour drinks, pizza... More

We horse rode through the National park it was truely beautiful. There was no snow in May, the spring flowers were out rivers flowing. The area was quiet and inviting. I would recommend a visit.

We visit Karakol during the last three years. As always it was the best experience, perfect various skiing paths. Love this place!

The view on the mountain is perfect. The slopes are really good and also the free rides. The lifts are slow and not in good shape. The ski shop rental has good quality of skis but not enough skis for free ride. The ski base is small and it would be better if they expand. Also the road to the... More

Karakol ski base is small but a great mountain for Kyrgyzstan. Unfortunately the service is kind of a gamble and the prices change frequently and without notice. I have had good experiences renting equipment with competent staff, but have also encountered equipment that needed hourly maintenance (the bindings continuously came loose). When asking for a replacement or for the problem... More

Its really worth to go to Karakol skiing base. It took us 6 hours of driving from Bishkek city to Karakol town and then 30 min to get to the skiing base. There are plenty of guest houses in the town. Its definitely worth to go for more than one day since its a long way from Bishkek. I enjoyed... More

I spent one day at the ski base. AJ J's review below mine is very useful for indicative prices for taxis and jeeps up and down from the ski base and rental equipment, so anyone looking for advice should refer to that. Just to reiterate, in order to get there, get a shared jeep from downtown, it's really straightforward. The... More
