We did the three day circuit, starting and ending in lower Omalo. On the first day we made our way to our afternoon stop in Dartlo, where a group of friendly Georgians treated us to some watermelon and way too much Chacha. After that we had some lunch in a place outside the village and pressed on to Chesho, where... More

Hiking from Omalo in Tusheti to Shatili in Khevsureti is an absolute delight. Took us 3.5 days walking with one pack horse for bags rented with little trouble for next day departure in Omalo (we had no advance arrangements). Highly recommended and the horse helped us across the one place where there's a slightly deep river crossing.

This is a mountainous part of Georgia. The best (and probably the only) time to visit is summer. There are no roads to speak of, and it is probably safer to backpack than to drive. Beautiful scenery, great food, friendly local population. I stayed in Hotel Tsasne, i Omalo (regional center) and it was more than one would expect -... More

Great place to vist, especially for the fall colors. Make sure you get out before the main pass closes, or stay the next 8 months :-)

Having heard so much about Tusheti I decided to pay a visit, and WOW!!! The 4 wheel drive journey was an adrenellin rush in itself. The mountain ranges are a breathtaking sight and what a excellent place to just stay to gather your thoughts, wether it be by the crystal clear ice cold river or sat up on the mountain.... More

The most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. Roads are really scary. It took us 5 hours from Telavi to get there. We stayed 3nights in Upper Omalo and visited neighbouring villages.

Tusheti is definitely worth the trip! The road with the 4WD is already an experience you won't forget (50 GEL pp one way). Try to find lodging outside of Omalo to get a real taste of Tusheti
