After Castelul Huniazilor which was disappointing, we did not have that many expectations from Fagaras. The city is small and the surroundings are a bit kitsch. The castle however is a long series of great history lessons. We fully enjoyed it and we would be...More

The Fagaras Fortress is a must see when visiting Romania. It is an amazing, well maintained example of a medieval fortress. As a castle enthusiast it had everything you can think of. The fortress has a dungeon and torture area, as well as guard towers...More

The fortress is surrounded by moat, and lightened in night, thus creating absolutely stunning view. The fortress itself is interesting, some parts are very well preserved, the explanations are written on 3 or 4 languages, which rarely seen. There is also a museum in the...More

The fortress is a very interesting place, full of history. It is well maintained with good information. Nevertheless, some exhibits do not have translated legends or information.

Unfortunately we arrived late at night so we couldn't visit the castle on the inside. but the view of it in the night, with lights on it was great. We will go back some day and visit it properly.

I am glad we stopped and visitied the fortress. It is well renovated and you can see a lot of artefacts from medieval times in the museum. Both extrerior court and interior rooms worth to be visited.

I like how the fortress is renovated, and the museum from inside. Also, the exterior is great! The restoration of the fortress continue, with some exterior places like "powder chamber" for guns, guard area and other.
