We did the hike in the first week of August, and stretched it into a longer trip. We stayed at a campground just south of the park area on the first night, then hiked in on a Tuesday, relaxed and played games on Wednesday, then hiked out on Thursday. We got lucky with the weather, and it wasn't too hot.... More

First off, this is Manitoba's highest waterfall, but remember that this is a prairie province. It does not compare to Kakabeka Falls which is about equidistant from Winnipeg. Due to lack of vantage points at Kwasitchewan, Pisew Falls with the established viewing points is actually more impressive. Saying that, a long walk to see a backcountry waterfall is a great... To restate the summative statement of a 2014 review: “A fantastic hike, beautiful terrain, not very difficult. All worth it!” It’s VERY doable as a day hike. 2 girls, outnumbered by 3 dogs, set upon a round trip to Kwasitchewan today (early Sept). We departed the trailhead around 8am. It was about a 7 hour trip, excluding a lunch break.... More

Did the trail last week end. I do agree the trail is way more than 22 km. I think it is around 32 to 35 km. I started at 1pm and finished at 8. We ran a good part of it. We got face to face with a big moose about 10 feet in front of us. She got surprised... More

May 30 2015 Our group consisted of 6 hikers. 3 women and 2 men in their mid to late 20’s and myself a 51 year old female. We had some novice and some experienced hikers in our crew in moderate to good condition with minimal prior injuries. This was a first hike of this length for all of us. The... More

Early in October 2014, we were up at 5:00 and on the road from Snow Lake at 6:00 a.m. The plan was to arrive at Pisew Falls prior to 8:00 a.m. and get a decent start on a 22 km hike from the Fall’s parking lot to Manitoba’s highest waterfall, Kwasitchewan Falls. Another couple, along with my wife and I... More

A fantastic hike, beautiful terrain, not very difficult. All worth it! We hiked to these falls in early September (of 2014). The trek is pretty long to get here, nearly 16 km based on our GPS tracking (the maps indicates about 12 km one direction). If you are going here really your only choice is to camp overnight. The falls... More

We visited Pisew Falls Provinical Park and Kwasitchewan Falls about an hour outside of Thompson Manitoba. "Here the Grass River drops 13 m/42.7 ft., changes direction and jets down through a gorge. A short boardwalk leads to observation platforms overlooking Pisew Falls. Another 0.5 km/.3 mi. trail leads to the Rotary Bridge over the Grass River below Pisew Falls. The... More

Get ready to work hard! Georgeous spot to witness Manitoba's tallest falls-Kwasitchewan. Prime your experience with a view of Pisew Falls then set your mind on a seriously challenging hike to Kwasitchewan. A group of us set out for a one day round trip. You will want to bring a good supply of water and trail food to make it... More

We visited Kwasitchewan Falls in August of 2008. It is Manitoba's highest waterfall. The trail starts at Pisew Falls, which is a stop alongside the highway on your way north to Thompson. It is 74km/46 miles south of Thompson. There is a trailhead across the parking lot from where you park to walk down to Pisew Falls. The trail is... More
