I recently went to this beach, although it was offseason. The Fossil museum was closed and the tide was in, so I did not get the full experience. Even with those small disappointments I still found an amazing fossil (see photo) and the view was wonderful. If you like to fish the local fisherman were quite happy as they were... More

When the tide is in there is very little beach to wander and search for fossils. It is still a pleasant place to visit even when the tide is in. Nice short walk through the woods to get there. Gentleman at the museum is very knowledgable and has some interesting exhibits.

The collector, who gathered these items during the past 17 years, gave us a tour in the museum, and told us lots of interesting historic facts about the items that were displayed. We enjoyed the visit, and with the information we... More

After visiting Joggins and their 300,000,000 year old fossils, I heard about Blue Beach in Avonport. The beach itself was beautiful and fossils were available everywhere. Apparently Blue Beach fossils pre-date Joggins by 40,000,000 Years! The guide at the museum, Chris, gave us the tour explaining the close relationship between one of the fossils and humans. It was one of... More
