This is a related to an ancient mythology from where Tezpur got its name from. It is located right on the banks of the Brahmaputra river and one has to climb up the hill. It has now been made into a park and is one of the major attractions in Tezpur.

The locals over hype this place with history etc. but after the renovation , you can consider this as a small park to walk that is well maintained and have some nice recently made sculptures.

The Hill is situated at bank of mighty Brahmaputra which tripled the beauty of Agnigarh. The statues well says about the historic events of the past. The entire Tezpur city can be seen from the hilltop. The view of Brahmaputra river from Agnigarh can easily mesmerize anyone.

Agnigarh Hill is a hillock &in ancient time it was a fortress built by Baan Roja to keep his daughter Usha secluded. Apparently Usha saw the first image of her husband (Lord Krishna's son) here...Hmm loads of history. Do visit

Well maintained gardens. The many sculptures and statues depict a fascinating story. These could have been made more informative with appropriate descriptions beneath each statue. They also have a children's play area, although that's not well maintained, but can keep kids entertained. There's a machaan as well which affords fascinsting views of the Brahmaputra and the entire city. Sunsets from... More
