For a kick off, the map reference on Trip Advisor is wrong, best thing to do is use Satnav input S35 7DN. When you get there you'll not be disappointed. A very thorough guided tour around the buildings, workshops and workers cottage with heaps of history and working machinery. The guide made it enjoyable - the whole place is a... More

We thought it wouldn't have much to see as it got old building, work shops but with the help of enthusiast Gordon ( parkinson we thought he was called) the guide he was full of historical information all about the different machinery that they had, belts and steam, electrical and water power . All working order which the volunteers have... More

Had wanted to visit mainly for the miniature railway but on arrival we were told about the continuous tour around the old forge buildings and decided to tag along and see what it was about. So glad we did! Gordon is highly knowledgeable and brings the old forge to life often quite literally. All of the exhibits have been donated... More

This is a well preserved site and with plenty of working exhibits and guides who bring it to life. It was great to see volunteers all around the site engaged in the sympathetic restoration of forging equipment and a wide variety of industrial engine. Sharing the venue is a model engineering group running a scale model railway. The forge water... More

We loved our trip. The museum is run by volunteers who are passionate about restoring and demonsrrating engines and old machinery associated with Sheffields industrial history. A must for budding engineers, both old and young alike.

We had a brilliant and interesting visit, the volunteers who guided us round clearly knew their stuff and had so many stories to share with us that they brought the history of the place to life. A great day out.

This is a fantastic place to spend a Sunday afternoon. Lots to see including lots if working machinery, a great guide to show us round and explain everything, and even a miniature railway to ride on. All for £3 including parking! Just excellent.

Went for an open day when the trains were working. So much history and the people that volunteer were so helpful and clearly enjoyed working there. In a beautiful setting. Would recommend this to anyone as something for everyone and very reasonably priced entrance fee.
