This cliff-top fortress offers more than just a view, you need to experience being there.

We took the cable car from the visitors center. The specific exhibits took about 1.5 to 2.5 hours to visit and absorb the information.

After hearing the story of Masada I wasn't too excited about going there because it is tragic. But I was glad we went and even good to hear more of the story. It is so interesting to see the ruins of this palace at the top of a mountain that Herod built with food stored, which allowed the Jewish community... More

It was good to climb and see the view! The story that you can read about a place is also very intersting. I think it`s better to climb by walk, because it`s not far and not very tiring and you can take breathtaking photos on a way :)

The short video on arrival gives a useful, brief history. We went up with the cable car- you'd need to be very fit to walk up the Snake Path in the heat but it wasn't too bad to walk back down. You can top up with water at the top and there are also loos there. We went and returned... More

The reviews here have covered it all, it's a very interesting and impressive place to visit, beautiful, exciting, thought provoking. My only comment is that the park, visitor center, cable cars etc are world class, actually better than what we've seen in some other countries, and reasonably priced. Very well designed, built, organized and operated. Great amenities and services, good... More

Don't take the cable car if you are able to manage a moderate hike. The Masada site opens at 5am and make sure you arrive on time so that it allows you 45 minutes to climb to the top and also position yourself for sunrise. It was around 6am for us. The cable car opens later at 8am so you... More

This was an amazing spot to visit. I have been twice, and plan on returning. The second time there was an excavation site. I look forward to returning to see what has been uncovered. A lot of walking. Good shoes non slip! There is a exhilarating trail to walk up, or a lift. Take water, and snacks. Expect at least... More

You can walk up and down the mountain or take the cablecar. Its about a 5 minute ride up and about a 25-45 minute walk down, depending on your fitness level and how often you stop to take photos. There are stairs and path parts to the trail. Masada itself is ancient and has quite a complicated and interesting history.... More

We loved this place. The scenery itself is amazing. The story, especially of the siege, is fascinating. There is more to be seen than I realised- the remains are more extensive and the buildings more complete (there has been reconstruction). We loved it.

Masada was King Herod's vacation fortress that was the setting of some tragic stories in history. The view atop the fortress is gorgeous, as you can see for miles, including the Dead Sea. The climb is a moderate hike all the way up to the summit, and you can take a cable car which opens at 8 AM as well.
