Nice and different from most zoos
Aug 2017 • Family
Its a small zoo but nice because the animals are mostly from the region, which makes it a lot more interesting. Zoo itself is on a nice terrain and animals have decent amount of space.

Choose a comfortable day
Aug 2016 • Family
Enjoyable morning ...small zoo with lots of animals. Children aged 11 and 7 enjoyed. With the heat and flys make sure you choose a comfortable day as exposed to sun for large parts of day

Great wildlife park, especially for kids!
May 2016 • Family
The central idea behind this wildlife park is to get to know local European fauna, and indeed it provides close encounters with numerous well-known species of which one knows the presence in Europe, but which are hardly ever spotted in the wild. It's beautifully located in a small valley and at one point provides great views of Poppi. It's neither a highly sophisticated zoo nor an amusement park style zoo, but a well maintained wildlife park and it does provide a very interesting few hours of enjoying local European fauna. The animals can be spotted as much as possible in their natural surroundings, which I found very nice. Particularly, the wolves, owls, wild cats, eagles, foxes and lynxes are quite impressive this way. If you're visiting Tuscany with small kids, a visit here is great as an alternative for, or intermezzo between visiting all the cultural heritage sites Tuscany has to offer. There is a small playing ground as well, and a small restaurant. Only disadvantage is sometimes a lack of explanations about the animals in a language other than Italian: this can and should probably be resolved easily. Smart phones can help with the translation in the meantime. Conclusion: a nice and informative experience!

Nice Place to be with children, but don't expect a real zoo.
Sep 2015 • Family
Small and Cosy place with small animal areas in a normal surrounding divided by normal fences. It is quite attractive, the animal can be seen from a very close distance (if they like to be seen, the y have hiding places !)
Actually the place for the brown bear is very small, poor animal, but the new area which is actually in construction will be a very nice place for him.
This is not a highly sophisticated zoo. But if you want to spend a bit time with your children in the green it is a nice place to do this,

our kids liked it
Aug 2015 • Family
We visited today with 2 and 8 year old. A hot sultry day, slightly tired looking setting, most animals were too sensible to be out in the early afternoon heat. However if you're in the area and have some time to kill, most children will enjoy this. It's best to avoid the hottest part of the day though.

Special European zoo
Aug 2015 • Family
This year for the second year a chance to visit this small but nice park, situated on a hilltop close to poppi. Don't go here for large attractions or a great restaurant: it is simple or even primitive in the way it has been set up. But you should go here for the large collection of European wildlife. Lynxes, wolves, turtles, birds of prey and many others are great to watch in their spaces that are relatively large (that's why sometimes you have to wait and seek for some of them). Some of them like the bear has been there for 36 years already. The kids love the educational part of it too. There is a cart carousel for some entertainment. As it is hilly it indeed can be cumbersome to reach certain areas with wheelchair / stroller.

In summer, try to avoid midday as it can get pretty hot out there.

All in all, a worthwhile visit to learn and see about European wildlife as a nice change for palazzos, fattorias and other places to visit during a holiday in Tuscany.

A great little place
Whilst visiting Tuscany we wanted a break from the towns for a while and this was perfect. Set in beautiful surroundings it is excellent value for money. Armed with a dictionary we managed to decipher most of the signs and had a lovely sunny morning

Nice day out...some issues not to mention the bar
Aug 2014 • Family
A nice day out with lots to see and OK value for money as it covers a good half day with the kids.
Some displays are a bit small and animals hard to see but others seem very well kept and offer great photo shots for the kids.
Need to boost the maintenance and really review the quality of the bar food. I should have complained there and then but didn't want the hassle...
If you are in the area it is worth a visit but take a picnic

An Experience but not a good one!
Aug 2013 • Family
Ok it is only 7 euros to get in, but you get no information leaflet and you have to go about half way round to find any sort of layout of the place and signs to the toilets etc are virtually non existant. Many of the compounds either had no animals in our they where hidden from view, and those that did the animals didn't look very happy, especially the brown bear. The place doesn't look well looked the toilet was awful and when we were leaving the chap at the main kiosk started playing on his electric guitar!
