Had a fantastic time on the river. 2 adults 2 children and a dog. We hired a rowing boat and a kayak for an hour, price was very reasonable. The staff could not have been nicer very helpful and made a fuss over the kids and dog (even got us a fresh bowl of water for the dog when we... More

What more fun than messing about on the river on a sunny afternoon? Kayak or rowing boats available and lovely people who've run this place for many years. We love it, a family and friends favourite. Prices are per person per hour £4 adults, £3 kids. If you can spare 2 hours you'll easily make it upriver to Perry's Plants... More

Hired the towing boat for one hour which gives just enough time to row to the limit which is the cafe in Sleights and then a turn and row back. Very shallow water in parts so creating much hilarity as you run aground and try to push off again. Beautiful scenery and wildlife and the bonus of a steam train... More

Very nice lady advised us to go to the cafe first as they close at 4pm whereas the boats stay open until 6pm. Good fun, rowing along the river dogging other boats and low hanging trees!

We took two rowing boats out with our 15, 13 and 9 yr old boys and had a great time, despite some light rain. The kayaks look fun too. Park on the side of the road rather than in the soft play - or visit both as that is great too.

We went at around 10am and got parked easily at the side of the road. We had a rowing boat for the four of us. It was good fun, mostly with Dad rowing but was a laugh when the kids tried to move around for a go and caused a bit of boat rocking. I consider it good value for... More

Family group with three teenagers & two young ones..this delighted everyone, including the oldies some of whom took to kayaking like ducks to water. Saw otters(maybe?), dragonflies & a steam train from the calm waters of the beautiful Esk. Took a picnic. @ £4 per person per hour we thought great value. Friendly efficient staff. Parking potentially tricky on sunny... More

I cannot praise this high enough. We go here as often as we can during each Summer season as a family as it is one of our favourite attractions in the area. The couple who run it are lovely, they work so hard and are so friendly we feel like we are visiting friends. I could happily spend the whole... More
