We came across Ludwigslust quite by accident while meandering through Germany. We stopped for lunch and walked over to the palace. It is a beautiful late baroque chateau set in a fantastic garden. The chateau and grounds are open to visitors. Walking in the grounds...More

Ludwiglust Palace or Castle is a beautiful baroque palace in the north of Germany. The palace itself is beautiful but the history is even more interesting. Duke Friedrich built it from 1772 to 1776 but first built the Church which faces the palace in 1765-1770....More

Ludwigslust Palace was a disappointment. Most times, historical places of interest will "preserve history" as the cornerstone of the attraction and draw for tourists. Unfortunately, Ludwigslust Palace is focused on preserving the wallpaper. The interior is not original with very limited furnishings of the period...More

The Schloss is not as interesting as the Schloss at Schwerin but even so it well worth visiting. In good weather the grounds and gardens landscaped in a naturalistic style would be the highlight of any visit. The cafe in the Schloss is also recommended...More

All the interesting facts during the guided tour about all the interesting people who wandered about this palace so long ago come a bit too quick to get an image of who was doing what where when why and with whom. But keep walking through...More

it is a pity that there is no money to renovate the palace to its former glory. so it is nothing to compare with a proper british castle. but the gardens are well maintained and kept.
