While everyone enjoys the wine and the view when they come to visit, the most asked question would have to be about our name...On a cool spring morning in 1929, a small crew from Okanagan Falls set off to a deserted mining camp some 16 miles away from home. Their mission: to dismantle an old wooden church and bring it back to Okanagan Falls. The plan called for a controlled blast of four dynamite sticks inside the church in order to "loosen the nails". Odd as it may seem, the explosion spared the wood from damage during dismantling.Save for losing the steeple, the plan succeeded. Now the 103 year old wooden church stands proudly in its second home of Okanagan Falls and is still an operating United Church. In keeping with its rather remarkable history, the church has since withstood the threat of two major floods, including the disastrous burst of the Okanagan Falls Dam in the early 1950's.In naming our VQA wines "Blasted Church" we celebrate the ingenuity of the initiative to move the church and honor those pioneers for their vision.

My initial thought when noticing the vestment-inspired uniforms the wine hosts were wearing was, are any of them atheists? My girlfriend and I were on vacation through Okanagan wine country. Over six days, we visited sixty wineries. You can follow our various locations with this disclaimer. That’s sixty wineries, not an exaggeration. We ended the trip with 120 bottles acquired.... More

Did not have to sample the wines this time as we knew what we wanted before going in. The scenery in the area is worth the visit along and the wine just tops it off.

One of my favourite wineries! Wonderful wines and a great view. There is no restaurant but the have picnic areas. Would highly recommend you bring a light lunch and enjoy a bottle of wine and take in the views.

Have always seen Blasted Church wine labels in the store and have always wanted to visit to hear the story of the name and labels. A little far off drive to get to the winery, was surprised as we pulled us it was not a church at all. Entered the winery, beautiful and tons of wood. Were greeted by 2... More

There's a great story about the Blasted Church and the views of the lake are second to none. Definitely worth the visit.

We recently visited Blasted Church and while the scenery was spectacular and the log house building where we did the wine tasting was very nice, we found the staff a bit like they were bored and couldn't wait to go home. Not a lot of enthusiasm and no information given about the wines we were tasting. Only bought one bottle... More

Ok, this place was difficult to find and out of the way? Once you finally arrive they even charge you five dollars for a tasting when in fact they should be paying you for the gas and time it took to find this place. To top it off I did not even enjoy the wine! None bought just left in... More

It was late-in-the-day, but Waverley was happy to explain the winery’s blas(t)phemous name and origin, recounting the tale of a recycled church which, but for t.G.o.G might have been blown to smithereens! We could actually visit the reconstructed church building in Okanagan Falls... and late that evening we did... . See photo. Back to the important stuff... in bottles. First... More
