I wasn't really a "bat" person until I came on this tour. Going on the tour with Vino- a passionate and personable guide, actually "personalized" the bats. Our family thought this was one of our favorite tours while in Costa Rica- a definite unexpected highlight while in Monteverde. We walked in and realized that it would be an hour before... More

We loved seeing all the different types of bats active in their enclosure and learning about the nature of bats and bat history in Costa Rica!

A great idea for a rainy day! Best times to come are early in the morning or mid-late afternoon. The guy running the place did a great job explaining the different kinds of bats, eating styles, etc. It was very educational: I thought I knew about bats decently well before this, but found out that I really didn't know much.... Who thinks much about bats? You really should! Stop in and see why. Three presentations a day, extremely knowledgeable guide, excellent exhibits. We were astonished and amazed, really!

The Bat Jungle is packed with information, photos, interactive exhibits, and, of course, bats! You take a guided tour with Arturo who knows about and loves all things Chiroptera (the order of bats). We were there at feeding time which is especially great as the bats swoop around landing on fruit dishes and nectar feeders. This is an indoor small... More

If you are okay with zoos, you'll love this place. If you'd prefer to see bats in a natural setting, go on a night hike.

Ok, it's fairly small, but this "bat jungle" deserves anyone's time (and money!). The display contains rescued (i.e. orphaned or injured) fruit bats, and they can be clearly seen and appreciated. They are clearly very well looked after. There is also an information section about bats in general, and Costa Rican bats in particular. You need to book a guided... More

If you're in Monteverde, I would highly recommend a visit to this place. It is very informative and it will completely reverse your perception of bats. We learned a lot. It's a short 1 hour tour but worth it. There are different kinds of bats captive here and you can see them behind the glass. It's all indoors, so a... More

Though only engaging for a brief visit, the Bat Jungle offers an interesting up-front look into the life of bats. The "exhibit" presents an informative synopsis of types and habits of bats over 2 rooms. Inside the "jungle" (behind the curtain), fruit and nectar hang and bats fly behind a glass for viewing. Though probably not worth the $14 for... More
