The facade which gives the historical appeal of the church has been preserved however, renovation is apparent inside. This structure is located in a highway and has a new view of the sea. A nice place to visit.

It is around 25 mins away from Virac, the city of Catanduanes. The outside structure is still preserved while the inside of the church is already renovation. The church is made of stone. It is a quite place to pray.

July 29, 2016. On our way to Puraran Beach, we visited one of the oldest church in Catanduanes. It is popularly known as Bato Church, but to the Iocals it is Saint John the Baptist Church. The church on the mound is visible from the road way. It's old plastered stones was well preserved, likewise the overall shell structure of... More

The Church had an old structure surrounded by a green grass field. We weren't really able to go inside the Church for the part was under construction when we visited. There was also a Requiem Mass being held inside, making us observe only the outer part of the place.

Made of coral stones, Bato Church really lives up to its (and its town's) name. It is the oldest church in Catanduanes, and a site of many local weddings. We passed by the places before going to Balacay Point and PAG-ASA Radar Station.

I was awed by this church as it was all made by stones! This can be reached through a tricycle ride from Virac

Beautiful painting on the ceiling in front of the altar. The church is definitely worth stopping for. I looked for an information sign with a date it was built, but could not find one.

This church been there for 200 years, equally amazing is the care taker who is now 72 years old, and maintains it's cleanliness... He proudly shared that he have been there since his childhood.
