Fun Family Outing
Sep 2020 • Family
We went on an unseasonably hot fall day at the end of September, so I’d really recommend to go earlier in the morning if you want to stay cool & comfy.

Otherwise for an affordable $6/person+HST (kids 3 & under are free), you get to walk their sprawling grounds, pick grape tomatoes, walk through their sunflower trail & explore their maze of sunflowers (always a surprise how tall the sunflowers are & how gigantic their leaves! Also, nice to see the bees lazily drinking nectar from sunflowers), go to their barn & petting zoo containing goats, mini horse, chickens & hens, pigs and a massive playground area.

And of course there is the pumpkin patch wherein you can also pick gourds and butternut squash (when available, you can ask to use one of their wagons to haul your load back to your car).

And don’t forget to check out their expansive, well-decorates farmers market area where you can buy in-house and in-season fruits & veggies, Kawartha ice cream, different kind of pies, jams and pickles AND hormone-free, grass-fed meat. You can also order your Thanksgiving Turkey here too.

This is a HIGHLY recommended activity for families especially for families with young kids.

Please note that COVID-19 protocols are strictly followed, so there’s hand sanitizers everywhere & you are expected to wear masks within the market and barn area.

A Great Adventure for Young Families
Aug 2020
Two adults and a 5 and 3 year old just visited Forsythe Farms and had an amazing day. We went on their scavenger hunt which took us through the entire farm. Throughout this adventure we learned about farm animals, ecology, maple syrup, bees, growing crops and even solar energy. Feeding the farm animals was a highlight. The people working there were friendly and helpful. We bought a Turkey pie to take home for dinner that night.......which was delicious.

We came to see the tall and Huge sunflowers
They were featured in one of the weather reports. Unfortunately by the time we went they were past there bloom.
Anyway good to see everything else. Great market with lots of produce home made jam and so on.
Enjoyed the visit

Thank you for coming out. The sunflowers lasted about 3 weeks in their glory but like all plants they do go to seed. We'll be planting them again next year. Late August , early September is when to watch for them. Glad you enjoyed our other farm activities. Visit throughout the year, May to December as the farm and our crops change with the season.

Amazing strawberry patch and lots of kid-friendly things to do
Jul 2019 • Family
Visited the farm on a Saturday afternoon in search of some strawberries and was not disappointed. Their strawberry patch is quite large and had a bumper crop at the time of writing this (July 13). Strawberries we picked were about $7 per quart but they were absolutely delicious.

There are lots of things for children to do and plenty of photo-ops. They have chickens that roam around, some small horses and ponies, and lots of little areas for kids to interact with other things.

Their general store has many other things for sale, including jams, pastries, milk, and many other produce items, like carrots, peas, and potatoes/onions. We purchased a whole bunch of stuff, all of which was delicious, but were disappointed that there was no chocolate milk left when we arrived!

We enjoyed our time there a lot and would return next time we’re in the area.

A good tip would be to bring bug spray and an umbrella, just in case.

School trip

This is a wonderful venue. My five year old grandson and his xclass went here just before Halloween. We were amazed at how it is set up for small children. He absolutely loved it. There was a hay ride for the class. Lovely store where we bought some delicious jams. The staff were so great with the rather rambunctious kids. Would recommend to go for Apple picking also

We're so glad to hear you and your grandson had a great time. We strive to connect kids to farms and where their food comes from. Just one correction. Although we do have a number of crops for pick your own including strawberries and pumpkins, we do not have pick your own apples, just fresh picked in the market.

Lovely little farm
Oct 2018 • Family
A short (by Canadian standards) drive from Toronto, this small farm is well worth a visit if you fancy a drive through the country to see something just a little bit different! It's a great place for young kids to be introduced to farm animals and farm life... the corn maze was deceptively hard (but that might be us!). All in all, a lovely farm, friendly staff, and a great morning spent.

Amazing place to visit for a change in pace from the city!
Aug 2017 • Family
This last summer we went here 5 or 6 times because it's that fun!

Lots of opportunities for photo ops with the animals, scenery and on the wagon tour. You can also purchase some scrap vegetables to feed the farm animals, and that's always a hit with the kids. The outdoor play area has lots of different things for the kids to play with (sand pit, giant slide, small house with kitchen play toys, dirt racetrack with pedal-cars).

The market they have their sells lots of fresh baked goods, homegrown jars of jams, and of course fresh vegetables and fruits.

The staff are wonderful and we look forward to returning next summer!

Great for young kids
Aug 2017 • Family
We visited this farm as a family of 4 with children under the age of 6 on a Sunday. Very reasonably priced compared to other farms in the city/ area. We bought a Groupon which made our visit even cheaper but even without a Groupon, the admission is reasonable at $6.50. My kids loved feeding the animals ($.50 per bag of food). We purchased 4 bags and this kept them busy for a long time. They also loved the tractor ride which takes you through the fields with some scenes from fairy tales and to a little nature walk through the forest. They were thrilled at all the frogs and toads that we encountered. The store is great where we were able to purchase a freshly baked pie, homemade cookies and a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Every staff member that we encountered was so pleasant and friendly. We spent about 2 hours here. Will definitely visit in the future in the fall.
