We stopped at this beach on a boat trip. It is a very pretty, dark sand beach. The snorkeling was very nice. There are quit a few vendors (including in the water) that are a bit annoying. I would have liked to spend the day.

My husband and I were driving by and did a u-turn when we passed Winston’s studio and I saw the masks on the wall.
If you’re interested in local art and a local artist definitely stop. We were so glad we did. Winston was there and chatted with us for a while. He has lots to tell you about his island and his culture as well as about his art.
His art is colorful, interesting and also affordable. He has a range of pieces from small key chains to large canvases so you will be sure to find something to fit your budget and you’ll go home with a piece of art you wouldn’t find anywhere else.

This beach is accessed via an ~2km poorly maintained dirt road that is behind the rum distillery, where you see the not so pretty side of the town of Rosseau. I was glad we had an all-wheel-drive and would not like to attempt it after heavy rain.

The beach itself was broad and mostly deserted except for a few locals handing around a motley collection of shacks. There was also cattle and goats around, so I guess they were farming. There was no beach activity except for us.

We attempted to snorkel the south (left) side of the beach since the surf was up a little and it looked more sheltered. But the swell was unpleasant, the visibility less than 1m, and the sand quite coarse and unpleasant.

There's also a lot of garbage around. In short, we gave up after 20 minutes and left. I think there's a reason this beach isn't on the mainstream tourist maps.

An authentic and unique experience! The river and especially the mangrove was beautiful and our guide Siah was very helpful. We really enjoyed meeting Carl and trying the local fruit and sugar cane. Thank you for an unforgettable day.

The tour starts with a bus ride to a harbor. The boats are already loaded with all the gear so you hop in and take off after a short lesson. The tour takes you to a different part of the island so it’s a really unique sight seeing experience. Then you are brought to a coral and let loose. The power snorkels were very unique and made the trip more interesting than a typical snorkel excursion. The staff was really nice and fun. We had a big storm blow through as we were heading back to the harbor and the staff was safe and cautious. Even with this horrible storm and all of us driving back soaking wet we still loved the experience.

I will warn you, do not book multiple snorkel excursions because they probably all go to the same reef this one took us too.
We liked this excursion because there was only four couples so it was very intimate and it really felt like we got see ocean life in its entirety. So many marine life to look at!
