- caipirinaColombo, Sri Lanka858 contributionsWe got tired over the years visiting places like Asakusa for our anual new years prayer, because those have become to over-crowded. This is the second year we went to Omiya Hachiman and it is still big enough for a festive atmosphere, but feels intimate compared to the 'big' ones. Food stalls were great.Written 2 January 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Tokyo JAnglesey, UK328 contributionsThis crescent shaped mall in Asagaya is a great place for locals living in the area to do their shopping but it doesn't mean that tourists won't get anything out from coming here. As there are so many variety of shops in the mall, there's a good chance you could pick something interesting up as a souvenir or anything else for that matter. I enjoyed walking through the long mall and checking out the shops. It may not be on the list of places that tourists go to whilst staying in Tokyo but I'd say come here and explore the area. You may end buying something you can't find anywhere else.Written 1 April 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
This temple is the origin of the name of the place and area called "Koenji" in Suginami-ku, Tokyo. The area is bustling with shopping streets around Koenji Station, especially on holidays, but this temple is very quiet even on holidays, probably because it is surrounded by residential areas, and few people visit unless there is a festival. The temple precincts are not large, and it takes less than 30 minutes just to walk around. The temple is free to visit, but basically you are not allowed to enter the main hall.
A large ginkgo tree is planted in the center of the temple precincts, and visitors can enjoy the beautiful yellow color of the ginkgo tree from late fall to early winter.
The Inari Shrine, located on the west side of the temple precincts, has a torii gate with two magnificent dragon carving. Known as the twin dragon torii, it's one of three gates in Tokyo, but this torii is the smallest.Written 4 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Most of them are pretty much the same, a bunch of restaurants, drug stores, game stores, clothing, etc.
It is a good idea to take a bit of a stroll and find what you need first. Don't really need to bother going into any of the stores, unless you like something. The drug store is somewhere that I usually go into.
People are still friendly and you can ask questions. They don't expect you to buy anything and they will be happy to see foreigners in this part of town. There are not that many!
