What travellers are saying
- adascoliMiami, FL45 contributionsAmazing chapel nd beautiful church. Staff was super helpful. All the critiques on here should be dismissed. How is it the church's fault that you didn't do your research and realize you needed a reservation, or you show up 20 minutes before closing. That's on you. Do some research.
It is called the Sistine Chapel of the Middle Ages for a good reason. The colors are vivid and the little museum and artifacts are quite interesting as well.
It is a must see if you are in the area.Written 4 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our visit coincided with the lead up to a christening and it was delightful to observe a Special, traditional, extended Italian family gathering in such an historic church.
Check timings, so you can visit the crypt (unlike we did!)

Picture frames, vases, wall decorations, mirrors, jewelry. More. All so beautiful. So unique. I left with an awesome necklace that will be a constant reminder of the time we spent visiting here in Anagni. Thank you Rita for welcoming us and sharing the story of your family business.Written 12 November 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chris ULeiden, The Netherlands38 contributionsThe presence in the past of several popes guarantees great pallazo's and seigniorial homes. Several squares, many beautiful alleyways full of flowers, a great museum and cathedral.Written 7 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bon viveurLondon, UK1,663 contributionsThis ancient palace is steeped in fascinating papal history. We found the audio guide to be a pretty good introduction to the stories and the stones exuded a dramatic sense of intrigue.
It’s not very large, but you will need at least an hour. I recommend reading about the infamous ‘slap’ before you visit in order to really appreciate the significance of the site.Written 29 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. But, the highlight of my tour of this beautiful city was my visit to La Mostra di Tommaso Gismondi. The beauty and intricacies of this artist's exhibit is awe inspiring.Written 29 May 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AnnapolisKenAnnapolis64 contributionsAnagni is a gem for its medieval history, walls, churches, and palazzi, but this monument has a few bits of its other history. First this memorial commemorates the fallen in WW II. Next, the monument (made in 1927) is a remainder of fascist style and attitude towards commemorating a past full of martial glory. Finally, there is an official note on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the US bombing of the city of Anagni in 1944, noting that this monument commemorates the real victims. I'm not sure what that means--does it mean that the fallen soldiers of 1914-1918 are the real victims or the civilian deaths in 1944?Written 5 August 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
