    Breathtaking view~
    This is a rest area/panorama park overlooking the bay. We stopped on our way from from Niseko to Hakodate. A great photo spot too. Not many food options but a great place to relax. Other than the standard items available on a rest stop, nothing much else here.

    My favorite wild outdoor onsen
    Drive up the hill from the sea. Park your car. Take your towel and walk up to the hot spring bath dug into a rock by the gushing mountain stream. No soap allowed. If too hot add cold water from the hose pipe alongside.
    Enjoy! Don't forget to take a deep breath and say thanks to mother earth for her gifts.

    Really hard to find, but worth the search
    This is another wild hot spring in Japan’s bear country. The owner, who lives in Hakodate, built a hut around a stone hot spring about 4 kilometres from Ginryukaku Hotel off highway 277. It is hard to find and has parking for about two cars. After you park, you walk across a wooden bridge and see the hot spring hut. The bath is large enough for two people. There is a small book in the hut where those who bathe can leave words of wisdom and thanks to the owner. Visited 9/16/2017
