- JACChichester, UK158 contributionsVisiting the food hall is an absolute must when in Shinjuku, Japan. Vendors sell a huge range of products and it's incredible to see the artistry of the cakes, bakery and other confections, the array of fish and meat and super fresh fruit and vegetables. It's certainly not cheap to buy your weekly food shopping, but find something for a special treat, and you won't regret it.Written 5 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - chagebakAvarua, Cook Islands140 contributionsAs a westerner with only a basic working knowledge of Japanese, I thought it might be fun to take in the bargain Saturday evening performances for 500 Yen. I'm glad I went, because rakugo is something that most tourists never get the chance to see, and this theatre has a great reputation. Not particularly large, I was lucky to get a ticket, despite getting in line a bit after nine; the floor seating filled and I had to sit on a pillow on the side gallery on the tatami. A little uncomfortable, but not too bad. A very funny performance, even though I had difficulty following parts of it. A very varied crowd, but all locals apart from myself. A good show for those who want to experience the cultural immersion, but don't go in expecting anyone to speak English. It would be most appreciated by those with some degree of Japanese fluency.Written 10 April 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Unfortunately, the park is closed until June 2020 and as of January, there is nothing in the space.Written 14 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's big, very lots of information in various languages. The staff are very friendly & helpful. It's located just across the other side of JR Shinjuku station entrance.Written 12 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - dutchiedonutsToronto, Canada1,027 contributionsI was basically here for the Godzilla store on the main floor.
But there is quite a few stores and vendors in this building, even a movie theater.
It is around a seven to ten minute walk from Shinjuku Station, east exit heading towards Tower Records. If you have wifi on your phone, use Google Maps and type in Godzilla Store and it will bring you to the right building.
If you're a Godzilla fan, like I am, then you'll have a blast checking out all the merchandise. Again there are plenty of other vendors/ stores to shop from and save your bill. If you spend over $100, then you'll get the tax credit for tourists. Tax Free kiosk is on the main floor as well. You'll get your 8% back on your purchases.
I had a great time just looking around and doing some shopping.Written 2 February 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. He comes from a long line of chefs and gardeners, so not only is his cooking Michelin star level, but he ensures he cooks with in-season, locally grown ingredients (often what he and his family grow themselves!). We helped prepare the ingredients and he showed us how to put them together, deceivingly simple dishes that taste like something you would never think you could make yourself (but he gives you the recipes, so you actually can). He has funny takes on all kinds of cultures, as he lived in America for awhile and meets people from all over the world. His home is so cozy and it really drives home what Japanese cooking culture is all about. Forget the touristy things to do in Shinjuku and sign up for this class instead, it was my favorite part of our whole trip and you're supporting a really amazing chef (and a really cool dude).Written 5 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
