What travellers are saying
- Von1287Albany, NY712 contributionsThis was really cool! We came in the morning when it was not super busy and it was my birthday! The rock changes in your perspective as you move closer to it which is pretty awesome. It looks so tiny from afar and then huge when you get up to it. Very cool beach and we saw plenty of people enjoying the water!Written 3 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SuseqMissoula, MT90 contributionsCheck the time of year and watch the tide schedules, amazing beach. Dog friendly and super clean. One of my favorite beaches in Oregon.Written 18 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Alvaro WTWSantiago, Chile2 contributionsThe Astoria Column is the best place to get a view of Astoria and its surroundings.
♿ It is and accessible tourism attraction recommended for people with all types of disabilities:
🅿️ Accessible parking is available next to the viewpoint and the Column ✅
🏞️ The viewpoint is wheelchair-accessible entrances and dimensions. It has written information for visitors ✅
🔭 Binoculars have two different heights for wheelchair users or persons of short stature ✅
🏛️ Getting to the top of the column is the only thing that is not wheelchair accessible ❌
🧑🦯 There is a touching model of the landscape so blind people can also understand the landscape of Astoria ✅

We started on the upper trail, walked the the hiker camp, then returned via the lower trail. We were glad we started with the upper trail because it made the second half of the walk all downhill.Written 28 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Susan L6 contributionsLove seeing the blue rocks and listening to them rattle as the surf moves them. Usually lots of sea lions to observe. There are naturalists there to answer questions. Also take the time to tour the lighthouse as it is fascinating.Written 4 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Todd IDurango, CO124 contributionsYou should really check out this historic lighthouse if you're in the area. Heceta Head Lighthouse has a rich history, and the coastal views are spectacular. It's one of my favorite places in the world. The historic bed and breakfast that we stayed in is very charming and beautiful. The short hike from the main parking lot is relatively easy and well worth your time and effort.
We were lucky and spotted 4 humpback whales meandering up the coast.
We are eager to return!Written 18 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Great array of hikes right from the visitor center, including going down to the water (Spouting Horn and Thor's Well were impressive) and a great view hike up the mountain to the north (about 3 miles round trip). Make sure you go all the way to the top to the little hut built out on the point - great photo ops!Written 1 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - dwrozSeattle, WA14 contributionsUnparalleled views of the scenic Southern Oregon Coast with a great "big picture" view of the the too many to count seastacks. Having spent most of my 2 day stay in the area taking photos from the beach I wish I had come here sooner in my stay. I only had about an hour to spend here before my 8 hour drive home, but looking forward to spending much time more when I come back.Written 1 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - T725 contributionsBy far Oregon's best State park. Fantastic staff, tons to do and high quality rv sites. - jaimeelsabioMaryland4,162 contributionsThe punch bowl is a quick stop to take a few photos and not much else. If the tide is out, one can walk into from from the beach. If you like walking on beaches, the one by it is very nice.Written 1 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sally R5 contributionsMy husband and I walked the full strip to see what shops and restaurants were available. - jaimeelsabioMaryland4,162 contributionsWe hadn’t planned on stopping at the lighthouse, but decided to visit at the last minute. Since one couldn’t go in the lighthouse itself, walking around the grounds didn’t take long. The grounds and lighthouse are well maintained.Written 1 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Roberta HSaint Paul, MN235 contributionsIt was too wet to take the the trail to the actual site. But on a cold, wet day I wouldn't have picked this site to spend the winter, but I'm not Lewis and Clark.Written 4 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
