What travellers are saying
- Rachel BPimlico, UK34 contributionsIt's a cool concept to see the underwater sculptures and nothing I'd seen before. I was snorkeling and the sculptures are quite a way down to see - it is better diving. We also went to flamingo bay which I thought was much better for snorkeling as the corals are closer to the surface and there seems to be more marine life to see.Written 26 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David SMiddlesbrough, UK1,529 contributionsWhen walking from the cruise ship port, just take the corresponding road and walk through the small tunnel and make it to the bay where the old port is located. Picturesque and typically Caribbean. A lovely harbour filled with vessels.Written 20 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - sam cAnn Arbor, MI325 contributionsNice small shop in St. Georges, lots of very delicious looking & tasting chocolates/desserts (got some dark chocolate bars). Drinks offered too (got a cocoa tea). The staff can give you a very informative 15-20 minute "tour" where they show you the process of making chocolate from cocoa beans (including multiple taste tests of the different stages). No charge for this, but they do appreciate tips. They also have some spices/gifts/souvenirs if desired. Went here as part of a larger multi-stop tour around the island. Wouldn't have known about it otherwise, but glad I went!Written 21 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Srimanth RudrarajuGreater London, UK305 contributionsWas on a 2 week Caribbean cruise and had a stop at Grenada and decided to visit this place as part of my custom day tour in Grenada. The only problem is that this is on the east side of the island and most of the attractions are on the west side of the island. It was really worth the trip.
The place is absolutely amazingly clean and crisply maintained. It’s not as big as one thinks. It’s quite medium sized. Entrance fee is about $4 USD per adult and a tour guide will take you around the garden explaining all the trees and the plants.
It roughly takes around 45 mins to an hour to go around looking at all the herbs. You’ll also get to taste all the leaves and the tour guide explains all the benefits of each tree and its leaves. It was really interesting to taste the cocoa seeds. I learnt about so many spices and herbs and their medicinal values. You also get to taste and smell all the herbs.
I tasted coca seeds! There's a shop at the end of the tour where you can buy spices.Written 29 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. On arrival, we were welcomed by the owner, Isobel & were lucky to find a special event in progress. “Scents of Grenada”. A group of local experts demonstrated an array of arts & crafts, including a lecture about use of local herbs & spices, presentation & tasting of locally made wines and a demonstration of the eco- friendly, Vetiver grass being planted in Grenada, has multiple uses from preventing soil erosion to the provision of its fragrant oil and when dried its use for the hand weaving floor mats.
We were given fresh homemade lemonade and blue tea from plants grown here.
The tour of the beautiful tropical garden by Victoria and an expert perfumer showed us many unusual and highly scented plants.
We thoroughly enjoyed it all & recommend everyone to pay a visit.Written 29 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - sam cAnn Arbor, MI325 contributionsVisited Annandale Falls as part of a larger tour around the island. Very interesting drive up to this location, lots of winding roads and spectacular views along the way! There is apparently a fee for entrance (this was covered in our tour group fee), so be aware of that. Very short walk from the road/parking down to the waterfall, not particularly strenuous - but maybe a little slippery at times (especially closer down to the water). The waterfall itself is nice, has a very peaceful atmosphere of greenery and a calm waterway surrounding it (noting that it was pretty much just our group of 6 there at the time, which gave us plenty of space and quiet - probably wouldn't have been as enjoyable if there were multiple large groups there at the same time given the limited space by the falls). You can swim in the water beneath the falls (put my hand in, it was reasonably warm) if you care for a dip. A couple of shops along the walkway down and at the entrance if you want to buy souvenirs or spices. Was a nice waterfall, but also not the best I've seen. Not sure if I'd drive that far up the island for this alone, but it was well worth the visit as part of a larger, multi-stop trip.Written 21 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dan BThomaston, GA70 contributionsThere was not much to see; however, it is a great place to get views. There is no formal entry. We parked at the police station after inquiring. There are a few cannons and a marker noting where former Prime Minister Bishop Maurice was executed.Written 10 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Not disclosed160 contributionsWe had a very interesting young guide who showed us around this charming garden. He was self taught having taken time to learn about the different plants, trees and proper gabion. We saw a wide variety of flowering plants, different tree ferns, palm trees and many I did not recognise. Well worth the visit and a interesting drive up through the hills and small villages from the port. Many narrow, twisty and steep roads, with good viewsWritten 26 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Richard SLincoln, UK129 contributionsA slightly weird mix of history and ecology, wildlife and interesting artefacts. - GuiWongAurora, Canada4,468 contributionsIt's amazing that this facility is operational. Take the tour and learn the history of sugar cane and rum on the island. Facinating machinery and buildings. - Rachel BPimlico, UK34 contributionsLovely park with beautiful views. It was an easy walk from mourne rouge/ bbc beach. To our delight we saw 3 mongooses! - bassaidai88Hagerstown, MD517 contributionsLarge trays of cocoa beans dry in the sun, which the workers turn with their feet. Inside, a local provides samples and descriptions of all the various spices. Don't forget to stick a buck or two in her tip box. Pretty cool to see where the spices originate. Restrooms are in back of the main building.Written 27 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
