What travellers are saying
- treesajoOmaha, NE54 contributionsI....am at a loss for words to describe how great this place was.
This beach is AMAZING! My photos do not do it justice! We docked here on a cruise and I researched good beaches to hit up while we were here ahead of time. I didn't want to leave! The ride there was pretty treacherous both ways, but we had an amazing driver - shared a van with other cruise passengers headed the same way. $15/ea way per person. The driver will stay with you all day otherwise you'd be s.o.l. to get outta there! Take CASH if you want drinks at Nigel's or Patricia's ($6-$10 same at both places)- they are the only 2 vendors or bring your own cooler/bags. One of our van friends had the chicken quesadilla Patricia's and said it was the best he's had but be on island time when you order ;-)
Chairs available for $20-$25/ea but we didn't need them because the water was so calm and beautiful we stayed in the water the entire day & just put our bags under a shade tree. Not many people at all, very quiet and probably the most relaxing place I've ever been. The views! The calm! Water! Beach! Sun! All of it was 10/10.
Parts of this beach entry are very rocky and will hurt your feet but head a few yards down for smooth entry into the water.
things to bring that I didn't:
-snorkel
-cash
We were fine without either but the snorkel is what I really missed out on. Borrowed a face snorkel and man I wished I had taken one. So much to see underwater!! <3
Its probably 30 mins from the cruise port and I HIGHLY recommend this best kept secret!
In conclusion, this spot has taken over in my top 3 of best places I've ever been!
No waves, no seaweed, crystal clear water and serenity!!!Written 8 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Minnie_FoxLiverpool, UK143 contributionsWe spent 2 hours here as part of an excursion from the Disney Fantasy and I really enjoyed it. It's a really beautiful beach, the water is easy to get in and out of, the sand was lovely and soft, there were no shells, rocks or seaweed in the water. It was nice and deep to be able to have a good swim.
There are lots of bars serving drinks along the beach, but we didn't get one. Bathroom amenities could be better.Written 2 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The beaches are incredible with no crowds. - accorleyAtlanta, GA1 contributionSimply put -- unforgettable memories during our recent visit to Long Bay Resort. Staying in a ground floor villa provided a breathtaking view of the beach and ocean every morning. Highly recommend villa 119 on the far end for privacy, but also easy access to everything--restaurant, pool, bar, spa, etc. No stone was left unturned by the wonderful staff to make sure we we're taken care of at all times and had the best possible experience. Starting with a call several days before our arrival with Akil to coordinate all the details including private transportation to our seamless departure with DK, they were just the most professional and thoughtful staff. Apologies if I miss anyone, but much love and appreciation to Paul, Dijon, Jason, Stephen, Clevon, Grace, Rosie, Denise and Atieka. Special shout out to Miguel (and Captain Rambo) for a world-class boat outing that went above and beyond expectations as well as his assistance in visiting The Baths and Smugglers Cove--both must see attractions. I'd give Long Bay Resort more than 5 stars if it was an option! Go and you will not be disappointed. - John KSan Antonio, TX1 contributionThis is a beautiful beach you may literally have to yourself. Great for swimming and surfing. It’s a diamond in the rough for amenities but does have bar service from two establishments. Apparently not on the agenda for cruise ship passengers and does not show on my tour book map. Easy to get to for Tortola beaches. Lawn chairs and umbrellas available from the bar. Great service from Oregon and D.Written 10 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TexasMomTWHot Springs, AR380 contributionsOur cruise ship docked at Road Town, Tortola, and Brewer‘s Bay was recommended as the best snorkeling beach by the personnel at the taxi information kiosk. Taxi fare was $12 per person each way for our group of 5-6. We arranged a designated pick-up time with our taxi driver, which worked out well. The drive to and from Brewer’s Bay had scenic and beautiful views.
The day we visited was rainy, so the beach was empty and the water visibility was better the farther to the right and offshore you went. Do remember that Tortola was hit hard by 2017’s Hurricane Irma, so there is still a lot of devastation. Beers were $5 each at the Nicole’s Beach Bar, and Nicole’s had a decent restroom.
I’m glad we went, because it gave us a glimpse of less touristy areas of Tortola, but we might try Trellis Bay or Cane Garden Bay next time.Written 2 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - alisdair tWorkington, UK6,409 contributionsWe called in here as part of our tour from a cruise ship. Only stopped for a short while to sit and have a cold beer. Seemed a lovely spot to spend a Couple of hours here. Nice marina, was quiet when we were there. Was planning to have one of the painkiller cocktails, but decided on a cold beerWritten 16 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TKM123Herne Bay, UK158 contributionsDived with Caribbean divers, very professional and friendly operators, boat fast and spacious. Equipment good. The team and dive guides were very helpful and friendly.
The wreck is well spread out and in two sections bow and stern. We dived the bow first and deeper than the second dive on the stern. A nice relaxing dive, although a bit of current at times.Written 30 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - 67RichPLondon, UK19 contributionsThis is an immersive forest hike, taking 1-2 hours depending how slowly you like to take it to spot the flora and fauna.
Drive and park at the trail head - its free. Visit local legend Jim in the shop / restaurant for a few pointers before you go, and a good chat, snack / drink / meal after you return - he has some interesting, quirky and retro items in his gift shop.
We found bromeliads, palms, Bird of Paradise, ferns, bananas, fungi and many more jungle floor plants, along with lizards, spiders, birds and others in the undergrowth. We met no other humans on our trek. Do bear in mind this hike does not offer much in the way of views, just to be immersed in dense jungle with the luxury of a trail to pass through it.
Bring bug repellent, water, lightweight tropics trekking apparel, lightweight trekking boots or trekking sandles - there will be some mud and slippery rocks / roots.
We were treated to a tropical deluge near the end of our hike and found a bit of shelter under the leaves of a huge banana tree - great way to end and see just why it is so lush.Written 19 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
