Mr Lonely was a fantastic guide. He knew everything about the island and sang through out the tour. The views from the mountain top were incredible

Fascinating history from 1600’s includes slave trading and then freeing them. Ownership of the plantation went from Carib Indian (Kalinago) chief Tegereman to Sam Jefferson, whose lineage includes Thomas Jefferson (3rd US president) to British Lord Romney. There’s also the huge Saman tree from 1617, the Manor House from 1628 and the Bell Tower from 1834. The Shop, Fountain and Bar complete the picture. Serene and picturesque gardens with a few benches for those to drink in the impressive scenery in that warm tropical glow.

Nice day out away from the Cruise Terminal, ask to be dropped off at the far end of the beach as this is the best part. Sunbeds & umbrellas are available as well as food & drink.

Very nice place to escape the heat and bussel of the harbour.

Good cocktails, nice menu and food, great pool and garden. All a short walk from the waterfront.

A co-cathedral is a church that shares the “bishop’s seat” with another one in a different jurisdiction. This serene church has a heartfelt message for the public - “Our mission is simply to make Jesus known and loved.”

Independence square is in the very center of Basseterre. It's a nice place to cool down in tree shades after the capital exploration.
The middle of the square is adorned with a nice fountain while on the eastern side is the Immaculate Conception Cathedral which is worth visiting.

This historic building is one of the first you see after leaving the cruise ship terminal at Port Zante in Basseterre. It contains many fascinating artefacts related to the history of St Kitts and a visit is an interesting distraction.

Resembling the Piccadilly Circus, this Victorian style clock stands in the middle of a downtown square across the National museum. It reminds on a similar clock in Victoria, Seychelles. You don't need to go out of your way to see it, as while exploring Basseterre you're for sure to pass by it or drive around it.
It's very picturesque with interesting houses around it.

I stayed there for 1,30 h and I snorkeled to see amazing fishes. I had the wrong camera with me and because of that, I have to come back to record my memories.

We arrived at Port Zante and waited for a shore excursion to begin. Their excursion departures were chaotic. When we returned to port we walked around a bit and shopped for a couple souvenirs before returning to our ship. There were men with live monkeys at the port and they were having visitors take photos with them.

This church is the largest on the island and although unremarkable remains significant in the history of Basseterre and St. Kitts. It’s history dates back to 1635 when the French and English settlers tried to unify the island after the massacre of the indigenous Kalinago population in 1626. It has survived many destructive episodes both man-made and natural events and remains a beacon

You drive on & off your own car & they direct you where to park on the ferry.

The website quoted $150 EC (East Caribbean $) for a small car & driver, plus $20 EC for each additional passenger.

AFTER our car was loaded (at the very back of the ferry), the guy collected the fares. It was $250 EC TOTAL. When we told him his website said $170 for the 2 of us + our small car, he said that the website was from 18 years ago!! ARE YOU KIDDING!??! When we asked why the site wasn't updated, he just shrugged his shoulders.

This was NOT a good experience.

This isn't the only time we encountered INCORRECT prices in St. Kitts. It seemed to happen a lot to us & we got the feeling that if you looked like tourists, they quoted you whatever price they wanted regardless of the prices posted!

I got in the habit really quickly of asking everywhere:
    1) is the price in EC or USD?
    2) are taxes extra? Most of the time they were included.

The taxi ride from the airport was only 6 minutes but cost us $60 EC! which is about $30 CAD (Canadian). At the banks, the rate of exchange for USD was consistent the 2 weeks I was there. I got $2.67 or $2.70 EC for 1 USD. They don't take CAD there in stores, restaurants, etc. only EC or USD.

This beach was less populated than others near it with cheaper drinks too! James and his wife were very friendly, but not pushy at all! I did get a great aloe massage there too! Very relaxing day! Nice walking beach to Reggae (very populated) and down to the other way.
