- Ted B6 contributionsI was blown away by the quality of The Music Man presentation, both artistically and technically. This theatre is not only beautiful on the outside! Why spend a fortune to go to Shaw or Stratford?Written 28 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- FarAway16891894311Woodbridge, VA1 contributionGananoque was an ideal place from which to see the 1000 Islands. Taking a boat trip and going up the tower are absolute musts.Written 18 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - sugar379Beamsville, Canada75 contributionsWhen we were looking for the casino we almost drove by. The sign along the road was not lit up and the lights going into the casino were out on one side. I decided to mention this to the staff and by the time we left it was repaired. Found parking lot to be very dark.Written 19 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- baroomMississauga, Canada3,214 contributionsThis waterfront park is a short distance from the Thousand Islands boat cruise dock and the boat museum. The side closest to the parking lot is a big grassy public space with cannons and War of 1812 memorial, illustrated plaques on founding father Colonel Joel Stone, bronze diorama of the 1816 garrison settlement, now present day Gananoque, and bandshell or stage.
The splash pad, just beyond the bandshell and right next to the public washrooms, leads to the playground and sandy cove like beach and swim dock. The rest of Joel Stone park sticks out into St. Lawrence River and features shady trees, park benches, picnic tables, red and white wooden (decorative) lighthouse, flagpole and a loop waterfront trail that passes through a gazebo.
We explored this very nice park and posed for photos at the lighthouse, on a giant muskoka chair and at the Welcome to Gananoque sign, just across the splash pad. Too bad we did not bring swimwear, the swim dock here looked really inviting.Written 2 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Close to the city hall and has a small parking area to park cars.Written 19 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - wloo_andrewWaterloo, Canada881 contributionsThe parkway is a relatively quiet, well-maintained road that follows the St Lawrence and is such an incredible relief from the 401! There are beautiful homes along the way and views of the river. There's a bike/running/rollerblade/etc path that stretches all along the parkway. Saw lots of people using it! There are picnic spots and pullouts where you can stretch your legs or enjoy views of the river.Written 17 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - judy sSanta Fe, NM50 contributionsPros: Easy to find. Trails are well marked. Nice bridge over beaver dam. Standing near the dam on short one can see rookery nests. With binocs we saw several baby and adult herons right in their nests.
Cons: Muddy and buggy now. If the trail just off the parking lot is soggy, you will find that about 20% of the whole south loop will be similar. We spent a lot of time trying to not have our shoes sucked off in the deep mud by bushwacking around many large areas. I agree this is at least moderately difficult as there are climbs but also you are regularly walking on uneven rocks or roots. I don't personally mind that but some may find the footing difficult. It took us about 2.5 hours to hike the south loop, with an additional 30 minute lunch break
Once dry, the south trail would be much nicer. Lookouts are good, not great. The first lookout, prior to the start of the loop didn't seem worth the climb. During color change, the all views would be more beautiful. If we did it again, I would only do the west side of the south loop (as though doing the loop clockwise) and return the same way as it was more interesting terrain and slightly less wet.Written 4 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Friendly, without being clingy, and someone is always available to answer questions. Relaxing atmosphere to wander around and check out the amazing artworks. - Jean M6 contributionsWe had a hard time finding it because of the large trees hiding it. At the 1000 Island Museum, they pointed us in the direction and that is the way that we found it. It has a nice story to it, but would have been nice to have gone into it or seen some of the workings inside. We were lucky to be there on two different occasions when the bells rang.Written 19 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - OntarioSunsetterOntario105 contributionsThe start of the visit was marred by the surprise of a $9.00 parking fee, cash only, which had not been noted on the online ticket purchase. Upon checking with the office, we were told to proceed to the waterfront. After waiting for the boat, prior to boarding, we were told to return to the office for a wristband and further ticketing. An inconvenience that would not have been necessary if we had been properly advised by the staff upon our arrival.
The water travel and tour of Boldt Castle was enjoyable, with one exception.
On the outward sailing, you are subjected to an almost constant narrative, in both official languages. While it is necessary to have an explanation of the surroundings and history, it does not have to be so constant.
On the return sailing in the early evening, there was no narrative, which made for a comfortable end of the day.Written 14 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
