This was an amazing experience! Mike Is an awesome guide, you can tell he loves what he does. The zodiac is an experience on its own, to me I would recommend this over the larger boats. We seen lots in the approx. 3 hours we were out. He also does the photography and shares the photos so you can sit back and enjoy the whole experience. Great service !
Definitely follow their recommendations of dressing warm, and take a toque, gloves and sunglasses along!
Definitely a must-do tour when your on the island, take the drive out to Sooke for a great experience!

We had an awesome experience with Kyle. He was constantly working to re-bait and adjust depths. We caught a lot fish. Answered every question we. Certainly shows the lifelong experience he has.

We're a couple of Northwest rainforest newbies and we thought it'd be fun to to see some of it while on vacation in Victoria. We talked with people in town, did some web searching and decided to give Rainforest tours a try. We made a booking and were pleased at the well planned, equipped, and organized trek through some pristine rainforest aside the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Our adventurous guide Toni was a font of local lore, and knowledgable of the flora and fauna we encountered along the trail. She was very attentive to our hiking capabilities and even guided us through our first Black Bear encounter on the beach.

The transport out and back was comfortable, and lunches we picked up on the way were very tasty.

It was a great trip with a wonderful guide. Randal grew up here on the island and knows so much about the wildlife. We saw otters, seals, starfish, crabs, jellyfish. Highly recommend booking and going out on the ocean. We booked the River but it was low tide and couldn’t do it. It was a good thing!

I highly recommend Bluewolf fishing charters. I have gone with Roy on both Halibut and Salmon fishing charters and ALWAYS bring home meat. Very knowledgeable captain and highly skilled at his job. We always have fun and a ton of laughs on board. Will recommend to anyone to go with him!

A highlight of Sooke so far. If you plan to be in the Sooke area for a day, I highly recommend taking this 3 hour tour on the water. Paul and Molly were fabulous hosts and very very knowledgeable about the whales in the area. If I'm ever back in Sooke, I'll be taking this tour again.

If you want a great guide and excellent boat this is the one to take. No dissapoinments here. We caught fish ever day.
I recently booked Warrior Fishing Charters for 2 half day trips and 1 full day. I took my 89 year old dad and 63 year old brother. We had never been fishing together for salmon at the coast. We had high expectations and were not dissapointed with Michael (owner and guide) from Warrior Fishing Charters. I researched different companies in the Victoria/Sooke area. Michael was informative and patient with me as I had a lot of questions and concerns. His phone manner and knowlegde were very good. He explained the process and recommended things to suit my needs as far as hotels, transportation and time of year. When we met him at the boat the first day he was extremely thorough with safety and the lay of the land in the boat and what to expect. He also was patient with us as we had questions. He offered options to what kind of fishing there was for the time of the year. We chose to go 20 minutes (boat ride) out from Sooke to the Kelp beds where the Chinook and Cohoes hang out. We caught fish every day, 3 days we fished for and caught Chinook, Cohoe, and Wild Cohoe. Over 30 fish, but there were a few we lost at the boat and lots of Wild Cohoe that we are not aloud to keep. the fish ranged in size between 6 and 12 pounds. We kept 10 in total. If you like fishing or just want to try it for the first time this guied and boat are perfect for you and your family, friends as a group to have a great time.

I think this may be the very first time I've ever hired a guide during any of our big vacations. After researching the Port Renfrew area, I started to get a vibe that accessing some of the big tree trails was going to be a chore, even in a rented 4WD SUV. I'm not bashful about driving on horrible backroads, but some of these logging roads sounded pretty bad. My communication via email with Drea before the trip was fantastic. I told her what we were wanting to do, and she built a full day trip just for us. I'm pescatarian but mostly vegetarian, so she prepared us both a veggie sandwich lunch that was fantastic. If you even hesitate due to the per person price, you should not worry one bit. She has a very well equipped 4WD vehicle, and knows the back logging roads like the back of her hand. We visited the Lower Avatar Grove, Big Lonely Doug, and Eden Grove during the first part of our day. Drea has worked with a lot of the big tree conservation people in the area, and she knows a great deal of info about the local ecology. There's a big movement underway on Vancouver Island to protect the old growth out there, so now is the time to go out and see the biggest trees in the entire province and probably all of Canada.

Avatar Grove is just filled with people most of the time, because it is so easy to get to. Once you turn off the mainline rood and head up to Big Lonely Doug, the people disappear. Nothing prepares you for that first view of Doug from the gravel road. The short hike down is pretty steep but easy, and has a spectacular payoff at the base of one of the two biggest Douglas Firs in the world. Just a little farther down the road is Eden Grove, which is just beyond comprehension. It is filled with old growth Western Red Cedar that has some of the most complex root and crown structures I've ever seen in any tree. Right by the trailhead is another massive Douglas Fir, too.

Drea capped off our great day out with a trip south down to Sombrio Beach and its hidden slot canyon waterfall. What an amazing day, and a fantastic guide! I'll also add that she came and picked us up right on time at our rented cottage in Handsome Dan's and then dropped us right back off at our doorstep after we were done. If you are planning on a trip to the Port Renfrew area, you should absolutely consider booking a trip with Drea.

Four of us wanted to go fishing for salmon, we saw the sign on the road and went in. First impression was very good, so we booked a trip. All of us had a great time, Luke was very easy to get along with and made us feel welcome and at home, and on top of it all, we caught fish!! If we come back fishing in Sooke, we would definitely book with VIP fishing charters again, and would highly recommend him.

We enjoyed meeting Allen who set us up on well maintained e-bikes. He showed us how to get to the Galloping Goose trail on a map and we were off! For those who are timid or unsure about riding with traffic, I would recommend getting a drop off and pick up since the ride down Route 14 is not designed with cyclists in mind. We cycled to Potholes first and then east. It's an out-and-back trail but quite pleasant: interesting history and the Potholes are beautiful even from the bike trail.

Amazing guide kept us entertained during the entire trip with his encyclopedic knowledge of the area. Beautiful area with lots to see. Special note: you will be provided with spray skirts for your kayak. A nice touch that isn't always included on kayak tours/rentals to keep you warm and dry.
