He loves trains so he was thrilled to be able to explore and check out all the trains and their old work house. Lots of neat information too.Written 6 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Gail LMitchell, Ontario254 contributionsSince our last visit over a year ago Railway City has added several new beers. I love the flight option as you can decide which beers you want to take home.
The facility is highly accessible. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. We always build in time for beer and snacks at Railway City on our way to Port Stanley Festival Theatre.Written 23 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Great place to wlk that heavy dinner off or take the dog for a walk, just clean up after you.
Additional garbage bins would be welcome as there were only a few and maybe it was the time of the year.Written 11 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lebrocq17Chatham, Canada84 contributionsWe took the 1 hour tour. It went by quick with loads of information. Is a very confined place so maybe not a good place for anyone with phobias and if you're tall like me you'll want to watch your head.
Was really quite fascinating to see the environment and hard to comprehend without being there how anyone could spend 3 months at a time on such a vessel.
Tour guide was very knowledgeable and mentioned there is a longer tour which covers more of the boat - in hindsight I would have taken the longer tour as it really was interesting and unique. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 out of 5 is I wanted to know more!!
Note not for kids under 6 years old and you do need to squeeze through some tight/small spaces so not for someone with limited mobility.Written 12 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - e10750lawGrimsby, Canada268 contributionsA little confusing to get to from the Jumbo Elephant statue but very much worth the walk. Quite a few pieces of art and sponsored statues including wind vanes. Wonderful the City of St Thomas groups preserved it as a place to go.Written 9 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bill S1 contributionThis is an interesting place, probably more historically significant than suggested by the information provided at the site. The intro plaque says "prehistoric" but the bulk of the descriptions are devoted to a later occupation during the early contact period, around the 1500's, by indigenous groups whom Europeans referred to as "Neutrals". It is only on one of the plaques, in the smallest font of any of them, where it states that "the Southwold site is the only known instance of double earthworks in Canada". If that is the case, judging by other examples of earthworks around the North America, construction of the earthworks likely predates occupation by the "Neutrals" by centuries. When? The "prehistory" angle is clearly in need of further amplification at the site.Written 14 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EthanReviewsSaint Thomas, Canada20 contributionsOn the day we took the walk around dalewood it was a warm fall day. The whole family loved the scenes and the ground was good and dry. There were a few unsafe paths but the whole trail was bike-safe. I would agree that the path is a half day activity (taking 2-4 hours to complete) and is enjoyed by locals and all members of the family.Written 14 February 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
