Having had an absolutely wonderful experience with a 5-hour walking tour in London with Stephen (the owner) in July 2018, I sought out the services of Ye Olde England Tours for what to do in England after disembarking the Disney Magic cruise ship in Dover, England after a 7-night Western Europe sailing. I had no understanding or awareness of what my options may be, other than commuting directly to the airport. However, my return flight was rather late in the evening and I had approximately 12 hours between getting ashore and taking off. I did not want to waste my time sitting in an airport but rather experience more of England, and in a new and different way from the London walking tour.
This time, I vacationed with my mother and I communicated with Stephen her special needs regarding mobility and other issues. Knowing that I am a tremendous fan of history and culture, Stephen suggested the tour of Canterbury Cathedral, with us being picked up at the pier and ultimately delivered to London's Heathrow Airport.
Come that morning, we were met at the dock by Kevin and he was absolutely charming and wonderful from the first minute. We were promptly picked up and taken first to the White Cliffs of Dover. This was a pleasant surprise to me as I hadn't recalled discussing this aspect previously. I very much loved my time walking atop the Cliffs, even though truth be told I am extremely phobic about heights. Despite that personal issue, and Kevin was extremely attentive to that issue once I raised it (and I intentionally waited until after most of our walk as I did not want to personally spoil any plans). My mother opted to wait by the car and the visitor's center and as Kevin stated, please treat his car as we would our own and not worry about anything (and I must say, his vehicle was immaculate and very comfortable). After our time at Dover, Kevin drove us to Canterbury. Most of our time there was spent at the Canterbury Cathedral and Kevin was a wealth of historical and cultural knowledge and was absolutely and unquestionably perfect for this tour! Kevin made the history, religion, art & architecture come alive - both for my mother who isn't necessarily a history/religion buff & for myself who does have a Master of Arts degree in History and a fascination with English history and culture. After our extensive tour of the Cathedral we visited the surrounding. Kevin took great care, and was especially attentive to my mother, making sure she both got a full experience while also catering to her needs. Kevin paid particular attention to the fine details of customer service. Ultimately, Kevin took us to the airport but even then and there he was focused on providing an exemplary experience and did not merely drop us off and leave us at curbside.
Through my previous experience with Ye Olde England Tours, I made not only the acquaintance of but a friendship with Stephen but I'd like to believe I've done so also with Kevin, through & thanks to this wicked awesome tour experience.
I've used Ye Olde England Tours twice now for two different experience and I hope to avail myself of more of their offerings during future vacations.
