Pros: We did the prison escape van. I can’t fault it, it was very immersive and a well-designed escape rooms - I was unsure at first as it looked like a small van so I wasn’t counting on it being an elaborate escape room but wow did my eyes deceive me! There were so many different steps and puzzles to solve if anything you needed more time! You will not get bored. Thoroughly enjoyed although it was very hard, unfortunately we were given helping clues for things we had already solved due to a technical fault so our “officer shipman” couldn’t hear what we were stuck on which threw us off a bit…but I’m sure we wouldn’t have solved it anyway.
The actor, “Officer Shipman” who led us in and locked us up was a sound guy too yet professional - makes you think he’s your friend before he locks you up.
Cons: the one reason I can’t give it a 5 star is management. We initially booked to do the escape room on February the 18th which inconveniently was the same day that nasty storm meant the government advised we stay home and trains were cancelled. I called them up on the morning of and told them we cannot make it because of the storm. Apparently they don’t normally accept cancellations and postponements but the storm was no one’s fault just bad luck so they said they would allow it as a “gesture of good will”, However this gesture of good will came with a fee of £10.
We then booked again for Tuesday the 21st, not knowing this was the day the rail strikes were set to start. So another spot of bad karma the day before I called to say again we cannot make it, I understand it’s not their fault but it’s not ours either. The nice women I spoke to on the phone initially okayed the postponement but after speaking with her manager called back to say we cannot postpone again - we were given an ultimatum: make the event or lose it. I thought this whole back and forth was extremely unfair and it felt like we were being blamed for something out of our control. Not very accommodating of our situation.
Other than that, the girl on the phone was very nice and helpful and the actor on the day during the experience was class too. I would recommend, just make sure you’re willing to drive through a storm for it.
