A beautiful place but not for anyone with problems walking, lots of steps most of which are uneven. But if you can do it the rewards are very worthwhile.

Beautiful gardens, well kept and peaceful atmosphere. I love going alone and walking in the tranquility. Truly a wonderful place.

If you live in or around Shrewsbury or just visiting it’s worth calling in here.
The entrance fee of £5:50 per adult is minimal with today’s prices of attractions and worth the money. Not the largest but certainly very friendly and informative. Would recommend to anyone in the area. You access it by driving to the Battlefield Farm Shop and parking there, walking through their courtyard and follow the signs to the entrance.

Covered market with good variety of food stalls and arty type shops. Also has a few eateries so well worth popping in. Unexpectedly good.

Brilliant afternoon spent on the Owl Experience. 90 minutes of learning about owls and handling them. Our granddaughter was delighted and hasn’t stopped talking about it. We booked through Wowcher for her and my husband and I managed to get a spectator ticket for £10. Really good value. Lisa and Steve are so passionate about the birds and their care, highly recommended.

We came across the Bog visitor centre whilst out exploring the Stiperstones countryside.
This is in the only remaining building (was the school) from the abandoned mining village of Bog. There are excellent and informative displays of the history of the village and the mine and a terrific café with lovely homemade cakes.
It is a shame that there are not marked paths around the village with information boards showing where each building used to be. It’s all rather overgrown and lacking information.
We did make our way around the site and enjoyed the scenery and small lakes (ex-resevoirs).

We really enjoyed our visit to the ruined castle which is situated next to an old church and graveyard.
The ruined castle is roughly a 10 minutes drive from the A49 and about 15 minutes from the A5/town of Shrewsbury.
There is a small parking area of about 3 cars and entrance is via the castle gate or through the graveyard.
This particular is free and under the English heritage and there are several information boards dotted around this pretty ruin.
The small wooded area on entry adds to the atmospheric feel.
Well worth a visit, about an hour..... No toilets on site.

This is a charming , fairytale-looking folly , made from coursed red sandstone , perched on the castle motte. It was designed by Robert Adams & built around 1790 by the renowned Scottish civil engineer Thomas Telford, for Laura, the daughter of Sir William Pulteney - apparently as a 21st birthday present ( for which I hope she was suitably grateful.) Unfortunately, it was closed to the public upon our visit, but can imagine the lofty views from the top would be quite panoramic over the town and surrounding area.

This fascinating survival sits in a field. It contains original 16th-17th century pews and is very simple inside. Gives a very good idea of churchgoing for the rural peasantry at t he time.

We visited the Battlefield 1431 Farm Shop primarily to see the excellent exhibition concerning the Battle of Shrewsbury in1431 and to visit the church buily as a memorial to the many killed in that battle.
The exhibition is very well presented with good displays and detailed descriptions of the events leading to the battle and combatants involved. There is a pleasant walk to the nearby memorial church and large graveyard which is worth visiting.
There is a top-quality farm shop on site with excellent farm and butchery products. Also a café / restaurant with good menu and indoor and outdoor seating.

First visit today and thoroughly enjoyed it. Had a full body Thai massage and really enjoyed it. Lovely building and staff were very welcoming and obviously very good at what they do. Thought the prices were reasonable too considering I had the 60 min massage. Highly recommend

We spent a few hours here... walking, climbing up and down steps- enjoying great views
It is a great day out but for those of us who are older it could do with more benches/seats around the journey where we could take a rest
Also it would be wise to take bottles of water as there are no refreshments apart from the shop at the start
And take a torch if you do the caves my iPhone light was ok but not bright enough really
Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather
    It’s a wonderful experience

Everything was very simple to book and the price very reasonable. We had two canoes and thoroughly enjoyed our time on the water. Would recommend.
