The restaurant was a disappointment; for some unknown reason they do not take cash; if I came again I'd bring sandwiches,. Interesting displays and really fascinating reenactors playing the part of people at different stages of the history of war. I was glad I managed to see Mike do a gripping and moving dramatisation of snippets from his grandfather's fIrst World War letters and also India most credibly playing a recruitment officer for the Special Operations section of the British army that trrained spies to send to France. The elephant armour was good but it was the reenactors who made the afternoon.

Coffee and fresh orange juice in the Lakeside Cafe after a leisurely walk round the Lake, the view is arguably the finest in Leeds, Kate served us,she is charming, friendly and helpful, the rest of the staff are unfailingly friendly, you can hire it for a special occasion, plenty of Parking and the food is sumptuous, the Chris White Jazz Trio played at a Public event one Friday evening a little while ago

We have visited Temple Newsam before, but this was the first time we had taken the guided tour.

The tour was excellent, and Tim our guide was fantastic, really knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the house and it's history. We also got a real insight to the evolution of the house over the years, and felt privileged to see things that you either wouldn't pick up or or wouldn't see if you were wandering round by yourself.

(The grounds and farm are also fantastic by the way, and Temple Newsam parkrun is top notch.)

This beautiful and atmospheric abbey leaves the impression that it could still be in use… the footsteps of past monks seem to linger in its ancient halls, built from stone the colour of honey-mead. Like many Norman buildings, it has a French feel. The remnants of the power and wealth of an earlier time remain defiantly evident. The entrance fee is a reasonable £11.25 for a family of 4, and it appears that work is gradually underway to reroof the building, which would be an excellent idea. It would be a fabulous venue for weddings, banquets, concerts etc and appears to already be used for theatrical performances. Impressive and set in a pleasant park - well worth a visit.

I had long been looking forward to visiting Harewood House, which certainly lived up to its reputation as one of England's great treasure houses. Unfortunately my visit coincided with a contemporary art installation in a number of the rooms which obstructed the view of many important artworks and furniture. As this was a one off opportunity to visit Harewood, I will never see it to its full advantage. While I can understand the need to attract visitors, I am not sure this is the way to go about it. I also have to agree with some of the comments about the state of the bird garden, which appeared to be neglected and unkempt. On the other hand, the excellent guidebook (written by the current Earl) is one of the best of its kind.

Great evening. Seating a bit tight with feet having to tuck under seat rather than being able to stretch out legs unless you want to get your feet trapped by seat in front if they move.

Cannot remember which row we were in but slightly to right of middle of stage and slightly above level of camera filming Jason, but view was brilliant.

Great place to take the children particularly in the rain as it is all under cover.

Some of the areas are quite warm so be prepared to remove your coat etc.

    Butterflies and birds flying around

    Has a nice café too

This is an outstanding park area covering over 130 acres. Fantastic walks, a lovely lake and many rare and beautiful flowers.
But, the cafe is a disgrace. It does not open until 10am, only in the UK would this happen...I am British and live here, and this is not unusual, for places to open at ridiculous times. Even on a Saturday this cafe does not open until 10am. The prices are very very expensive. A single shot of Espresso coffee, £2.80... Absolutely crazy. This is Leeds Council run cafe not some exclusive place.
I would recommend the park, but avoid this highly expensive and poorly run cafe.

A typically modern shopping centre, the highlight of which is the glass roof. Lots of noise from various exhibitions, and full of youths and families. Not our idea of a nice place to visit!

I live in Leeds so Kirkgate market is a must for me. Obviously I shop there but as a tourist it's well worth a look around the top end of the building which is very old. The bottom end of the inside market has a huge area of very inexpensive street food and there is something for everyone. Local people love it and that says something. There is also a huge outside market so plenty to see and buy. The market is next to the Corn Exchange, a circular building that's definately worth a viewing.

This lovely building in the city has been lovingly restored and is full of little independent shops - also a cafe in the centre
