What travellers are saying
- BibcayGateshead, UK3,894 contributionsIt has some pretty good stuff In here but the prices are over the top. The stuff it has is very Queensferry related.Written 19 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- alan lSkokie, IL4 contributionsI recently purchased a large officer’s briefcase from Mackenzie Leathers. Now that I have had it a few weeks I believe I can write an accurate review. Over the years I have owned a number of briefcases, some of which were manufactured by luxury brands. In each instance, I found them wanting. That prompted my search for the perfect bag. After considering several artisanal shops, I decided upon Mackenzie. This was a leap of faith for me since I live in the U.S. and I was unable to visit their shop.
The communication about selecting my bag was excellent, and I felt confident that Simon understood my needs and preferences. My bag was completed and arrived within the promised timeframe. I must say that my briefcase far exceeded my expectations. The quality of the materials and of the workmanship were spot on. My briefcase is large, but not too heavy. It easily accommodates my laptop, tablet, pens, papers, and books. The handle is sturdy yet comfortable. Aesthetically, it is a work of art. Patients and colleagues alike have commented on it admiringly.
Purchasing a handcrafted British briefcase that is made to order is not inexpensive. However, if you desire a beautiful yet functional briefcase, look no further. My bag is a keepsake that will last beyond a lifetime.Written 7 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Gareth97Dundee, UK101 contributionsStumbled upon this shop by accident, and was amazed at the selection of malts, and tobacco.
Daniel is amazing doing the tastings and so much information with such a classical twist to it. Brilliant experience and such a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended sitting down for a tasting you will not be disappointed!!!!Written 11 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Carpy1985Widnes, UK192 contributionsOne of many fudge shops on the Royal Mile…
Lured in by the friendly staff beckoning us in to try a sample and glad we did!
The fudge is made in front of you and samples are available to help make your decision, what turned into buying one bar ended in us buying 6 to take home.
Gluten Free (GF) - only a couple of the options with biscuit otherwise all available to pick and even a vegan option.Written 15 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - AshLimerick, Ireland1 contributionWas in Edinburgh on holidays and was lured into this lovely shop just off the royal mile by its window display. It had a range of products and was promoting local artists. Store owner was very nice and it was lovely to pick up mementos of our visit that weren’t tartan tat.Written 13 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Paddymagity18 contributionsWe always have to come here every time we visit Edinburgh as the fudge is SO good. I like the chocolate fudge and lemon meringue pie fudge. There is lots of choice, would like to try a mint chocolate flavour fudge but don't know if they make it, will ask the next time. Bought orange chocolate fudge too but haven't eaten it yet, thats still a treat to come.Written 16 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Jody13 contributionsAfter hearing great reviews about the marshmallow lady and seeing so many great photos I decided to try it out for myself. I ordered a iced hot chocolate unfortunately they were out of marshmallow fluff so I had vanilla marshmallows instead which were also toasted. I was originally disappointed as I saw they used yazoo milk for their milkshake but they did add melted chocolate and ice to it which was a nice addition however I do feel it would be better if they made the milkshake from scratch. The toasted marshmallows on top were absolutely amazing but I did find the bags of marshmallows to be a little on the expensive side. The staff were lovely but the service was a little slow especially as I was the only customer in at the time. Overall still a great experience and I would recommend I just feel there are a few improvements that could be madeWritten 25 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

Got my niece a dream catcher necklace that is perfect for her (she used to have nightmares and couldn’t sleep if there wasn’t a dream catcher in her room). - The F4 contributionsBeing a novice in the world of whiskey, Thought I would treat myself to a bottle. Guy there was very friendly and knowledgeable and helped me in finding a nice whiskey, It was like he didn't want you to spend a lot of money on a bottle in a nice way. I bought a Tamdhu Speyside 12 year old which I'm looking forward to.Written 18 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- love2travel9372United Kingdom117 contributionsQuirky little street with the link to Harry Potter. Don’t miss it. Small independent retailers including a fantastic Cheese shop and of course Number 40!Written 3 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- FedericaRome, Italy199 contributionsFirst, I LOVE books. Second, i LOVE coffee. This place is perfection to me!
I had a latte (plant based!) and a vegan raspberries lemon square dessert. It was good, but mostly the winning point is the location. I wouldn't go there for the coffee shop, it's a good average cafe, but the fact that it's in the library is the best to me. I would love to go there with my laptop and work while having a latte!
