- Ben M2 contributionsSuperb tour. Our tour guide made the tour memorable. Adriana (with 1 n) faultless. Highly recommendedWritten 31 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- theresa t5 contributionsThis stately home is off the usual path for visitors, but is simply lovely if you have any interest in vintage interiors. The house is well restored and the room guides are informative and interesting.Written 27 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Grant H8 contributionsWe had a fantastic experience getting married at the Cathedral. Fr Jamie went above and beyond to ensure our wedding went off without a hitch, and leading up to the big day he was very quick to respond to inquiries and help. We feel so fortunate that we were able to get married in such a beautiful churchWritten 29 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alistair TDundee, UK11 contributionsI parked easily at Ingliston Park and Ride, took the tram (great value ticket return - purchased at the platform), and headed into the city for a night out at The Lyceum.
I decided the day before to venture to Edinburgh to collect a purchase, and add value by picking up a Secret Seat ticket on the Lyceum website - and got a great single seat in Centre stalls. The Edinburgh Christmas Carol was a fantastic show and the glorious spectacle was lapped up by an appreciative audience. Comfortable seat, nice legroom, great view.Written 14 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Certainly worth a visit for both locals & tourists.Written 23 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Frances S31 contributionsGreat small theater with a pub attached where you can get a light supper. Not much selection at the pub but it was good. We saw Ryan Young on fiddle which was a fantastic concert. Nice venue for folk music in particular.Written 29 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Gaurav CNew Delhi, India3,090 contributionsThe Great hall certainly is a marvel of the old era...The wooden roof is a splendor in itself...It is displaying weapons and armors reminiscent of its glorious military past..It is located in the crown square of the castle..a tic is needed to visualize its splendor..Written 11 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Allan WStenhousemuir, UK192 contributionsAttended to see the Socially Distant Sports Bar live show and the venue was great, bar staff were incredibly efficient and it was only five minutes from Haymarket.Written 25 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - finglaspeteDublin, Ireland2,558 contributionsOn a night out or two, passed by this rather impressive building and admired its architecture. I believe it is a records office of some kind, but today I am reviewing it from the few fleeting glimpses I got of it while enjoying nights out in the city, do love the architecture of Edinburgh though.Written 31 January 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Eddie Jaramillo4 contributionsf you think Scotland is maybe just an extension of England, so did I...until I went there in December '22. The place has a genuine old world charm, both in the old buildings but especially in the friendly and helpfulness of the people. While many European towns have charm, many of them seem primarily sales driven. Whereas in Scotland, there seemed to be and underlying gratitude that we were there. I heartily recommend a taking a 4-hour train ride to Edinburgh and introducing yourself to the place next time you're in London! - Yvonne M2 contributionsFrom the moment you walk through the door at The Raging Bull, Ross and his team are incredibly welcoming and helpful. The bar has a lovely ambience, comfortable seating and colourful decor. The cocktail menu has something for every taste. But if you’re undecided the staff are very knowledgeable and will help you select a cocktail to suit your taste. They also offer cocktail master classes where you can learn to make your own cocktails. Definitely recommend a visit to The Raging Bull.Written 30 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Michaela F9 contributionsI recently visited One Spa on a Saturday morning with a friend as part of a weekend away to Edinburgh. We had the escape at one experience, so no treatment/massage just use of the thermal suite. At £75 for 3 hours each I felt very happy with my experience. The premesis was clean, as were the robes and towels. There were plenty of lockers, though they could have mentioned whilst we were downstairs in reception about the personal keys/wallet lockers - I read about them but didn't know where they actually were until reading TripAdvisor just now!
The thermal suite itself is good, the rooms were clean, heated/steamed as you'd expect with some nice environments. The outdoor/indoor spa pool area is nice, though don't expect any views of Edinburgh! It was also nice to have a full on swimming pool to do a few lengths in as we fancied.
I have rated 4 rather than 5 for two reasons. One, the changing rooms were uncomfortably hot, after all the heat of the thermal suite and showering after you don't really want to feel sweaty again whilst trying to get ready to leave. More importantly, both myself and my friend experienced the same problem with two different showers, which was that the provided shampoo/conditioner/shower gel pumps were just not functioning. They were of a design that I've never seen before and as we visited in the morning I'd like to think they weren't already empty for the day, but perhaps they were blocked? A slightly disappointing end but otherwise a lovely visit.Written 30 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. In another world, the house was owned by the famous brewer and politician William Mc Ewen of 'Best Buy in Beer ' Fame. The colossal staircase nearly does reach heaven and the wood carving is exquisite. There's a divine drawing room and much of the lavish upstairs area is used for a wide range of events and meetings.
Info boards list the latest programme and also the unique history of the house, of spiritualism and its links to the famous author.
Conan Doyle was an ardent follower of Spiritualism in his later years and much authentic memorabilia can be found in the wonderful Sherlock Tearoom- great place to avoid the crowds.
Also a Fringe Venue at the moment .Written 16 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
