Make sure to do research on the way to the top...there are multiple routes so one you take depends on the comfort of the people
The view from the top is too good and one should go there if one is at Edinburgh

For someone who do not like heights or water it is a no no.
I enjoyed seeing how plainly the royals lived on board the yacht.
The surrounding shopping area is abit off a let down but due to the economy at the moment understandable.
    Overrall recommed the trip.

Honestly, a great historic area. It was fun to wander the streets and narrow alleys always in the shadow of the imposing castle. As the day wears on, it gets a little too crowded with tourists which detracts from it’s appeal. Everyone sells the same lambs wool scarfs, and, while my wife tried to visit every one, I quickly became bored by them all. This is a must visit but bring a couple pounds of patience.

So the Royal Mike is very interesting as it is sandwiched between 2 castles and offers a variety of dining opportunities. Where it was a complete let down for us was that all of the stores sold exactly the same things at slightly different price points. If you are in the market for a scarf this is your street! Architecture is amazing!

The self-guided audio tour was well worth it at this beautiful palace. We walked the beautiful grounds, even in the drizzle and cold, because we didn't want to miss a thing. But the inside tour of the rooms was interesting and special. The device was very easy to use and there were options in each room to dive deeper into the details - giving information about a portrait or something else in the room. We thought it might be just an obligatory/basic tour of a beautiful palace but really we learned a lot and it was wonderful. And since it is self-guided we were able to go at our own pace (which is NOT slow). It was not crowded at all and we were able to purchase tickets that day.

Nice hike from our hotel location, we walked up the hill and around the perimeter path for outstanding views in every direction. It is an easy walk to the top and can be done on the way to Arthur’s Seat - also great!

I was blown away by this garden. Bought a map and paid a donation and was shown what to see. Very helpful. The rock garden is amazing. The azalea lawn was spectacular. Blew me away. The blue poppies in full flower. Never seen before. For free this place is fantastic. Was happy to donate.

My husband and I booked the gin and chocolate tasting with another couple and had the best time. We learned a lot about gin, loved the small-group experience, and of course loved tasting both the gins and the chocolate.

We did the Pea-cocktail experience and it was absolutely fantastic. Alyssia was an entertaining and knowledgeable guide taking us from the beginning gin to present day and Pickerings. Highly recommended.

We stumbled on this lovely park and were thrilled to find peace from the hordes of tourists. Just a lovely green space on the backside of the castle, it is expansive and a great place to soak up the sun.

Ranks up there with Washington DC's Museum of Pathology. Very cool and jam-packed with interesting specimens. We were pressed for time, but could have spent 2-3 hours here to take it all in. Well worth a trip if you are interested in medicine or just ghoulish.

It’s a quick walk through and it’s free, so don’t hesitate to visit. Unfortunately, the second floor was closed, so we were limited to one floor of art. What you see is very good, but, I was hoping for so much more. We liked the Portrait Museum better.
