Very easy to get to by bus from Grand Parade, Cork. About 30 minutes on the bus and only 2 Euros each way. Going on a fairly dull March day meant few other visitors around. Staff very friendly and helpful. Castle interesting but be aware of the steep spiral staircase to the top of the keep and the same going down. Fortunately a one way system. I didn't kiss the stone for hygiene reasons rather than the height. Lovely grounds. Staff in the café by the castle friendly. It was just warm enough to sit outside in the court yard. An enjoyable 3 hours. I would imagine the grounds are spectacular in the summer but also crowded.

Plan a half day here! I don’t know what I was thinking. With all my trip research, for some reason I thought the “Blarney Stone” was in the middle of some field. At the last minute, we took a detour here on our way back from Killarney to Dublin. We didn’t have much time and once I realized how much there was to see and do on premises, I was disappointed I hadn’t planned better. Be comfortable with tight, high, windy spaces if you want to kiss the stone. There’s still plenty to enjoy here if that’s not your cup of tea.

Just decided we would have a look around the area while we are down for the day. Spent a few hours visiting different places.
