- Eliana FerreiraOvar, Portugal29 contributionsLes atelier des Capucins is an old building that has been restored, of build up new on top of the old one. Brest is a city that has been destroyed by the WWII and rebuild. In here you will find beutiful arquitecture, a café, a zone of restaurants that are conected in a big room, some startups, a rock climbing wall company, a marine museus with a beautiful shop, some small shops, photo exhibitions, other marine exhibitions. Very large spaces where kids play, some with skates, small bikes or rollerskaters, It is a very nice place to go.Written 3 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - perle369Malaga, Spain1,837 contributionsThis tower is also a museum and is a part of Brest's medieval history. It stands well on the river but look a bit lonely.Written 17 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ROCruiserClaremont, CA4,655 contributionsWe walked from the cruise shuttle stop up to Cours Dajot. Very good view of the harbor. Nice walk along the wall to the castle. Quiet and beautiful with lots of trees.Written 27 June 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Eliana FerreiraOvar, Portugal29 contributionsWhen you arrive at this street you completley forget where you are and seems you have been transported to another place, it is a tiny medieval street, with plants near a wall, a cute graffity wall that looks like the street is continuing through it. It has a bar, and a shop from locals it is short but cute.Written 3 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HTinUK187 contributionsI attended this arena during a four day sporting event and our team members and supporters enjoyed the facilities available to the competitors. The arena is very easy to get to by tram from the centre of town.Written 27 April 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TrainbleuBrussels, Belgium28,766 contributionsSeeing Saint Louis Church (‘Église Saint Louis) every day during our stay in Brest during breakfast at Café Le Central almost opposite, we got used to the unusual appearance of this late 1950s church made out of concrete and coloured Logonna stone. Like so many buildings in Brest, Saint-Louis seems oversized. The inside reminded us of an immense, empty industrial hall. But there is a surprising variety of modern stained glass of different styles. The east wall has eleven large windows with stylised representations of saints against a grid-like background by Maurice Rocher (1918-1995). The opposite wall, on the other hand, has two rows of vibrant abstract windows by Jacques Bony (1919-2003), one at the top of the wall and one at the bottom. We were less taken with the large window by his brother, Paul, to the left of the altar, depicting scenes from the life of Saint Louis. The two chapels offer more pleasant surprises. The Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament is decorated with a huge orange and blue abstract window by Léon Zack (1882-1980) and then there is the surprisingly intimate and welcoming east chapel, decorated with beautiful stained glass by Jean-Pierre Le Bihan. Well worth a visit!Written 14 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Eliana FerreiraOvar, Portugal29 contributionsThis is a long avenue full of shops and the streets near by also have shops, so if you want to shop this is the place. The avenue has the Tram (that is like a surface metropolitan) which is very useful since the avenue is long.Written 3 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TrainbleuBrussels, Belgium28,766 contributionsCrossing the Recouvrance bridge over the River Penfeld to have a closer look at the Motte Tanguy Tower we came upon these two larger-than-life bronze statues by local sculptor Jérôme Durand. They represent a young woman grabbing a man by his shell jacket to prevent him from falling. We thought they were historical figures but it turned out Fanny and Jean are the main characters of two famous sailor songs: ‘The Lament of Jean Quemeneur’ by Henri Ansquer (around 1900) about a young lad from Recouvrance who married the wrong woman and ended up drowning in the harbour, and ‘Fanny de Lanninon’ by Pierre Mac Orlan (1950) about a man remembering his love for Fanny from Recouvrance who worked in a bar and probably died there during the war. Jérôme Durand has combined these two stories in a new one in which Fanny saves Jean from drowning. An original idea!
Apart from the statues, there are nice views all around.Written 11 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Outside looks a little in disrepair but still pretty architecture. - JoshuaBrest, France140 contributionsThis could be a great hangout spot. Unfortunately, you have to do a lot of weaving around the drug dealers who are constantly present. It's amazing but true: they do their business in the shadow of city hall.Written 11 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - miriamsanBrest, France10 contributionsIt is hidden due to the new buildings around it. Careful of the dog poop and human pee.. I was victim of both around these roads.Written 21 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JoshuaBrest, France140 contributionsIt's nice to have an open space in the city. I think this one was designed in the 60s, so it's pretty severe, but it serves a purpose.Written 11 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
