A HUGE place to visit - magnificent buildings, museums, gardens (would love to see it with the fountains working!) and well worth walking round the walls so you get a good view from every angle.
It captures the essence of the glory years of Dresden and Augustus the Strong. The site itself is spectacular, even before you visit the porcelain, scientific instruments and art galleries.

Fascinating to be at the site that this wonderful work of art was created..
A must for every visitor to Dresden - but also a must is to visit the original painting that gives the name to this view - it hangs in the Gemaeldegallerie

... in the Old Town contains the Old & New Green Vaults, the Turkish Chamber, huge weapons and art /coin collection plus a lovely restored courtyard leading to the clock Tower which can be climbed and has fab views.
Particularly the Haussmann tower is an outstanding element of the edifice from whose viewing platform a captivating view over the Dresden Altstadt can be enjoyed.

This was the Electors' summer palace, on a lovely site on the Elbe a few miles upstream of Dresden.
Walk up the stairs next to the fountain and behold the view from above.

Nestled close to other major Dresden sites such as the Frauenkirche, Zwinger and the Dresden castle, this huge porcelain mural is super central and gives a good insight to the mindset of those living in the period...

Also crossing the bridge and going up by the Schwebebahn, the Standseilbahn or by foot you can have amazing views on the bridge and the city!
We got off and saw the bridge and then we took the funicular to the top of the mountain to get a great view of the bridge

The bridge is definitely worth a walk across and you can view the golden statue of Augustus the Great on the other side of the Elbe River
I really liked the walk over the bridge and the wonderful views from both sides of the River Elbe.

A wee tip if taking a photo take it from the left hand side as there is an active building site opposite complete with a large crane which would ruin a historic statue like this marvellous example
