Great place to spend a few hours at, even better place for kids. Bus service gets you there and return, dolphin and bird shows are the best.

Shorter than I expected, but still stunning. Lovely green ravine after the stark arid rock of the coast. Stop at the terrific Museo de Guyadeque close to the start of the drive. Entire museum is built into the rock and made to look like a cave system. Lots of information about the huge number of ancient cave dwellings in the raving & an excellent shop. Great drive up to the end. Lunch at the cave Restaurante Taboror Guyadeqye was fun.

You can't see much unless you have really good binoculars. On one side of La Charca the dunes look gorgeous but the "town" side is not appealing, the place is fenced so you can't go close enough which is good for the wildlife of course but the surroundings are dirty looking. Not high on the list of things to do in Maspalomas but at least we ticked that box, won't be back. Rather go to the lighthouse area and walk the dunes at sunset.

El Pinar de Tamadaba is the largest forest area in Gran Canaria, it is mainly composed of Canarian pine, very resistant to the fire of the volcanoes.
The best area to enjoy the park is through a road that leaves the town of Artenera towards a refuge inside the park where you can spend the night and from which numerous trails of various levels and times of difficulty leave.
To access the park, the best way to do it is with a private car and leave it in the refuge area, you have to provide yourself with water and food if you are going to spend the day there, since there are no bars or restaurants inside
I recommend doing any of the routes if you want to enjoy the incomparable views from the top of the island, even if the slopes are pronounced, so you have to take it with patience.

Fataga and its surrounding area are beautiful places.
The village itself is so picturesque - lovely to wander around. Several craft shops with good quality merchandise (not the tourist tat found at the coast) and friendly helpful assistants in the shops.

We loved being able to walk around the grounds in a quiet location. Lots of chickens wandering freely. Unfortunately, you do not seem to be able to get near the cages that contain the white tailed pigeons. The garden by the house is locked and the sheep seem to be crowded into a small muddy enclosure.

The people were so friendly ! and the driver pedro was chatty and got us there safely. it was lovely to see the camels and other animals aswell as the fruit trees and vegatables. however as soon as we got on the camel ride me and my fiancé felt very guilty and sad , with there being so many camels and chained so close together in this heat we didn’t enjoy it :( as i don’t wish them to suffer at our expense but people say they are ment for the weather and there bred for rides. we won’t do this again but it was nice to see them and glad our money has went to feed them

Friday 21st September we had just visited the summit of Pico del las Nieves and we were driving towards Ingenio, to pick up the motorway GC-1 when we saw the signpost for the Caldera.

The Caldera has a depth of about 80 metres and a diameter of 550 metres, it is an impressive sight, so pleased we stopped to have a look.

This whole area forms part of the World Biosphere Reserve of Gran Canaria declared by UNESCO on 29th June 2005.

We did cross the road from the Caldera's viewing point to look at the views from there.

This waterfall and pool is an hours walk partly on footpath and partly over grass and rocks. Many people wore hiking gear. I had flip flops and a sundress. Something in between is best. Parking is free, the attraction is free. The cafe charges €2 each for toilets. It is pleasant enough but not as your main activity that day - we did it on the way to a trip to Las Palmas for the day.

I visited here with Leagues Ahead Diving. We entered the water at Discovery Beach, which is still a bit of a clamber, but nowhere near as difficult as the other entry points available, which involve climbing over rocky terrain in full Scuba kit.

This Marine Reserve is well worth the effort to get into the water. I had two very enjoyable dives here, in no small part due to the excellent service provided by Leagues Ahead Diving.

It's ok, free too. I liked the maintained pathways and the little walk round. My wife was easily bored though and wasn't as appreciative. There seemed to be one way in and one way out, the tall fence around the park had gates, but they were all locked.

It's a lovely easy walk up a ravine with spectacular views. One of two bits of scrambling. In July 2023 the waterfall was dry and a better description of the pool would be Charco Verde. Mind you the frogs seemed happy enough. Great views coming down too

Spent a wonderful day exploring the mountain and taking in the views. The roads are a bit scary but well worth the effort. The views are simply stunning and being on top of a dormant volcano a unique experience. Signage is good and information boards helpful. Lots of bikers, hikers and organised tours but given the expansive area never makes you feel like you are anything other than the only person there. Do you research and work out your routes if you can. The roads can be a little confusing and sat nav not wholly reliable. Enjoy
