In her latest monologue "Knock Knock, Soy Yo" Tricia uses the cozy atmosphere and super acustics of La Escalera de Jacob to invite the audience into a confidential conversation about chasing dreams and embracing reality. Great atmosphere and a mixed group of people. Good selection of spirits too. The owner and the staff are very friendly, they helped us in choosing the dishes and they were all simply delicious. I suggest the cod, the salmon cakes, the couscous, the cheese with garlic and the potatoes. As for dessert we had something that had popcorn, excellent! The place is not very big, it is suggested that they arrive early to mark the table. Ambient music, relaxed, well decorated, clean. No English spoken really but easy enough to order wine and beer. 14 euro for 2 wines and 2 beers. The shows at El Juglar don't try to sell you anything extra--15 Euro gets a glass of wine (beer or soda) and a one hour flamenco show featuring 3 dancers, guitar and vocals. The dancing and rhythms were terrific. I wish I knew more about how to appreciate all the aspects of the performance!
