Grerat place to try different foods, lots of tapas. Restaurant on the top floor gets crowded pretty fast. Bottom floor has a great selection of hams and cheeses, and mistura ice cream which was great.

The Italian place was great, and the fish place on the 2nd floor too. Lots of people, plenty of places to sit and chat!

We wanted to get away from the touristy mercado experience. Mercado Barcelo fit the bill perfectly. We had a lovely lunch with locals (no English menu) on the top floor at Cafe Barcelo and enjoyed roaming the floors to admire the fruit, vegetable, fish and meat stalls. Noted that the Cafe advertised desayuno (breakfast), which if we'd knoiwn earlier would have saved a lot of money on the okay but expensive hotel breakfas.

This is the best market I have been to in Madrid. It is not a tourist market at all but a market for everyday food shopping at much more reasonable prices. There are a few cafes around the market too.

Fancy little shop with adorable n tasty pastries. We could not get seat anywhere it’s bit small but they have an adjoining room unfortunately it was full. Had croissant n bf some other bread topped with sugar.. both were ok I guess it would taste better if we could sit n join with coffee😎😎

I had to visit this place to see all of the toy cars in their collection as I am a collector myself. I could spend hours but too many other things to see in this beautiful city!

As a Madrilian I told myself I had to go to this legendary shop which has been around for over 100 years. I knew the chocolates and candy were quite well known in Madrid so I decided to give it a go. I purchased a small box of candy. In it there is a great variety of flavors such as chocolate, orange, pineapple, rose, mint, etc. It is pricy for being candy but I still believe it is a great souvenir to keep for oneself or to give to your love ones! If you are around Alcala Gate or shopping in Serrano take a look at their lovely shop and bring back home a lovely memory from a place with a long tradition in Madrid.

This was recommended and was worth the walk. Knowledgeable staff with many olive oils to choose from.
