Staying in Stresa on Lake Maggiore, transport options to Orta San Giulio are limited in October.
Blue Taxi was perfect. Davide collected me at my hotel for a three hour morning itinerary. First to Sacro Monte for the chapels and the spectacular view of the lake then he explained how to take the 10 minute walk down to the town, how to get a boat to the island and back and promptly collected me in the main square for the trip back to Stresa.

This was the perfect break between the two. We spent about 2.5 hours touring the town + island. Micaela is incredibly knowledgable and engaging. Davide was friendly, courteous and professional. He arrived early for both trips and the ride was safe and comfortable. I've never reviewed a taxi service before but I enjoyed his personality and thoughtfulness so much, I felt compelled to provide a review. - Stephen C1 contributionWe took a 3 hour tour with Giulia Ferrari and she is awesome! Giulia knows all the history of San Giulio including the chapels honoring St. Francis of Assisi. We also took a boat with her to the island of San Giulio to tour the church and the grounds of the convent there. We stopped for cappuccino at the cafe on the island and it was quaint with a gorgeous view. Giulia is very knowledgeable about the local area and gave reliable recommendations for good quality hotels, restaurants, and shopping in the region.
